Can't play my saves

What is happening in a clean non-modded game? Any error messages? Crashing? Freezing? You need to provide more info.

I am also having this issue. I can't speak for OP, but this is what I'm experiencing.  I was getting an error like "break point" when I tried to load any rental lots, but in general I cannot load ANY lots. It can load as far as the main menu and I can choose a save to load, but I can't load into a lot. The game crashes each and every time. I have all mods removed, and even with a clean save, the game crashes and auto-quits when I try to get past the main menu. Currently, the game is literally unplayable

Experiencing the same thing. Anytime there's a new update, I dread it because the game is surely going to break and EA scrambles to fix it. Jesus, how hard is it to update a game without making it literally unplayable?!

Bluebellflora​ I am also having this issue. I can't load into any saves. I'm able to load the game as far as the main menu, but if I click on Resume Game, it crashes back to the desktop. If I click on Load Game, I am able to choose which save I want to load, but once I get to the neighbourhood/world where I can choose which household to load, I click on a lot and I get the same result (crashing back to the computer desktop). When I tried to load a residential lot, I got the same error as the user above that was something like "the game has encountered a break point". If I can reproduce it and get a screenshot, I will post it.

I'm playing on Windows 11 with a NVIDIA graphics card and Direct X 11. 

With all mods out, I'm getting the same result.

I've repaired my game and this did not fix the issue.

Same! Can't play in my saves! Vanilla game so that is not the problem. Wth is wrong?

Same here. After the 8/19/2025 update  my CPs desappeared . All of them. Help us, EA!!!

In my instance, i can't play my family or any other family in my save. I can select play, but it will load right back to the world map. I already repaired my game 

Game just loading and loading. Nothing happened. I thought, that something is wrong of my save. So I deleted the family,  repaired the game just in case and deleted localthumbcache, created the new family, but nothing happened. Game still just loading. Nothing else happened.

I am not able to even load my game because of today's update. It loads like it will launch then it shuts down. I was playing fine yesterday and this morning before the update. I have repaired my game, did an app recovery and restarted my Mac.

Everyone in this thread need to post their LastExceptions in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 

- Delete the ones you have
- Trigger the error again
- Check if new ones are created
- If that is the case, please copy/paste the content here. You can open the file with any text editor.Deleting the file won't fix your issue. Posting the info is meant for troubleshooting.

Any posts that are on modded game WILL be moved to the mods forum. You need to test a properly vanilla save, moving your mods folder to the desktop, deleting localcachefile thread (or even better a folder rename)

Instructions for folder rename

- Close the game
- Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
- Repair the game
- Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry. 
- Start a new save game
- Check if you still have the error
- Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.

I am so sick of them keep having updates that is breaking the game.....they need to fix this because people spend money just to not play the game is slow to me. None of my saves will play and i clean up my mods, took them out and try to play without mods and still no gameplay. EA FIX NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did the folder rename and it seems to be working fine now, how do i get my old saves back? would i just move them into the new sims 4 folder?

You can now start to copy back things from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old to the new Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 folder that was created.

First only copy (I suggest to copy so you can go back in case anything goes wrong along the way) the content of the folder Saves (these are your save games). If you are prompted if want to overwrite a save, decide if you want to keep that testing save you just made or not. If not, just overwrite if, if you want to keep it, rename the save to a different number that isn't taken.

Test just your save game with nothing else added back. If that works, you can start copying back the rest. If not, check back.

You will need the following folders

• Tray (your households and lots you have saved to library)- Custom Music (if you added any)
• Screenshots (if you've taken any)
• Videos (if you've taken any)
• ConfigOverride (if you made any although I recommend redoing those)
• Options(.ini) (although I recommend to just redo your settings in the game)
• usersettings.ini

Now test again. If that still works, you can put back your mods. Put them back in groups and make sure they are still compatible with the game.

All other files are recreated and not needed.

Is this a temporary solution to the problem? While it gets fixed? Or will it remain broken? Just as ive tried this and its remained broken, I still cant load my household, just worried for how long this will take to fix

Literally, having the same issue. 

I'm reporting on my experience. I had the same problem. I deleted all mods and CC, cleaned everything (cache), but I still had the same problem. Then I renamed the Sims 4 folder as described here, repaired the game, and restarted the game. The game worked after that. Then I copied my old save folder and tray and everything else into the new Sims 4 folder as described here. Everything works now. After that, I even copied my CC in (but no mods), and there are no problems. So it doesn't seem to be the mods related. The old Sims 4 folder didn't work without mods either. I attach the lastexeption und lastcrash file from my sims4_old folder for you analysis.

Please copy/paste the contents of your lastCrash and LE files here, not a screenshot of the contents of your EA folder.

Same here, since the update I've started a new game and it doesn't take me to my household, only to the world screen. If I click the same family again it will load, however no lots are saving changes. I've tried removing mods completely, repaired game files but still the same issue. Worked fine just before the update today.

Is your game still broken? Did you try anything? 

No issue on a clean vanilla play. Went back to main game file, repaired, disabled mods, reloaded. All save files on the main play file have been wiped since after the update. Can only recover saves 8/18 or earlier. Nothing after the update is saving properly on the old file.

Me too, even repaired my game thinking it was something on MY END. Not it's EA, as USUAL

Im having same issues, i play vinella no mods or cc, the game keeps crashing and now i cant even load into my save files its just a endless loading screen
