I am trying to remove a dad / husband from being related to the people in the house, but it's not working. I have done "testingcheats true" and "cas.fulleditmode". When it loads to CAS, I click on "husband" and try change it to "household member", it won't let me select it. Same as "father" to "household member". Nothing happens.

My pre existing sim who was a father to my orginal sim got married to and another sim I created as my mother in cas. And now my previous “father” in the sim is now titled as my brother and now I cant change anything in the relationship because its a pre existing sim who, please please fix this

Sometimes phantom Sim that are attached but don't really exist keep you from changing relationships.
It's a new family, so only the 4 of them. BUT could it be because I added Emit to the the family and CAS edited him to be the dad of the science kids?
Possible. Is Emit the one you're trying to remove ?

Just logged in again - not just an Emit problem, I can't change the sister's relationships or mother's relationships either :-)
but same household with emit ? Do you have issues with non-emit households ?
Same issue with other households. I tried 3 different ones. 2 were npc households and 1 other one was a family I made.
I can change from spouse to partner and then to household member, but not from spouse to household member. And I can't change from son or daughter to household member or from mother or father to household member.
It's always been a bit of an issue and some screenshots of your family trees would still be great.
Does anyone else seem to have this issue where you cannot create parents for currently existing sims? I have an alternative save file that I brought my sim into to create his family, but EVERY TIME I go to make his parents, THE GAME DOES NOT RECOGNIZE THE RELATIONSHIP!!!!!!!!!!! And I can't even set the relationship to parent/son/daughter unless I make brand new sims. There is no way I can make the parents exist for my sim without having to resort to modding. I've used the CAS cheat, I tested with a new household, which it works perfectly then, I aged down my sim to create a larger age gap, but still nothing works. I cannot make the parents for the existing sims I've downloaded. Is this a bug, or glitch, or genuinely does the game not let you play with genetics unless it's for a child? This is an extremely frustrating thing. Why can't the game allow me to create my sim's parents??????? Also why is it never an option in CAS when editing familial relationships? All I ever get is brother, partner, spouse, engaged, or household member options for sims I've downloaded.
Images below show the issue. The sim I downloaded is David Garcia, and I tried to create his dad, then added a random child to show that I could create his daughter, but the parent I attempted to make isn't recognized nor unable to be set as the father for David. Why????
