Fear of the Dark bug

I've seen other people report this bug but none of the solutions proposed to them have worked for me. sims currently have three children. Their eldest has a fear of the dark, but doesn't actually have the fear. I gave her "fear be gone" and it worked, but she still has the fear, and if I try to drink the potion again, it says that she can't drink the potion because she has no fear. Going outside at night while being confident doesn't work either. I also found a post talking about a cheat code to fix it, which I tried, but that doesnt' seem to work either.

It's just so frustrating because she keeps running around screaming at my other sims and making them afraid - and she's not even afraid when she does it!! Her mood is almost always "very happy" or "very energized" and yet she autopilots to screaming at the other children and making them scared. Is there an actual fix to this issue? Is it just going to keep being ignored instead of being patched? I like this game a lot and it sucks to have to deal with it.
