G2W Doctor cannot care for patients

Whenever my doctor sims goes to work he doesn’t have enough time to care for the patients that come in. I try to work fast but can at MOST get through 2-3 patients during his workshift (and I always make him stay late to even be able to finish). He is lvl 7 in his career and jumpstarted at that lvl due to university studies.

This is my first time playing as a Doc/in the medical career so I’m not sure if this is something that is common, but it makes no sense that my sim is the only 1 working in the hospital. (There are other townies working there aswell but they don’t seem to do anything during their shift but stand or walk around).

There is no way I can take in more patients than are already admitted to the hospital rooms (due to the rooms already being full of patients), so all the patients that come in during my shift and wait at the entrance to be admitted, end up leaving and being angry.

Is this a bug or is this just how ”hectic” the workday is supposed to be as a doc?

  • I have found this to always be the case ever since GTW launched, thus I find that active career almost the most grueling to get promotions in (since you HAVE to participate in order to complete necessary prerequisites.)  I usually get 3, maybe 4 patients taken care of, and in order to help make them successful I sort of cheat and look for patients that are obviously ill (like a rash) compared to focusing on ones that may end up having absolutely nothing wrong with them.  The other staff are fairly useless, maybe only cleaning up a used bed but not actually helping see the patients.  (In fact, there's one guy who tends to stand in my way and I have to call him over to gain access to the patient.) I don't think this is a bug overall, but it would be nice for it to be addressed to make it more realistic.

  • ---- This is not optimal. But, it's practical and less stressful. ---- I long ago stopped paying attention to the daily work requirements for the Doctor Career. I pick a few patients to treat properly and ignore the rest. Sometimes my Sims are very bad Doctors. I have them treat patients for random illnesses just to save time. Purely by chance they get it right often enough to get promoted.  😬🤷‍♀️

What did help is I added more beds - all over the place - using the free build cheat. Open the cheat console with Ctrl + Shift + C, type "testingcheats true," then enter "bb.enablefreebuild" and press Enter. (You may also need the "bb.showhiddenobjects" to find the beds. Don't recall.) Add more beds. Your Sim will at least have fewer angry walkouts.

I like the GTW active careers, but they can be stressful. And the older packs seem to have been entirely forgotten by EA.

My other sim is in the police career and also jumpstarted due to uni studies and I have had pretty much zero issues with that path. I more or less ENJOY playing and following him to work because you can actually see progress 🥲. But the medical career is just messed up, but good to know I’m not the only one with this issue.

  • I have 1 "doctor" in my game, it's been a long time since I played the career.  I just focused on fulfilling the goals and I did the same with the Science career!  Not fulfilling the goals for the day,..... I think,..... I may be wrong, ...... may have something to do with the "relationships" with co-workers.  I literally had to befriend the receptionists "nurses"?  and there were several new ones, to the point that on the weekends or "free time", I would host a dinner party, some social event that would include as many of the "co-workers" NPC's to build up the relationships with them.  That indeed did help me be able to fulfill the daily goals.
