[LD] Cannot create new will after destroying old

I am unable to create a new will after selecting "Destroy will" or bringing a sim back to life. The option to create a will is greyed out with the note "X sim already has a will". No will is in the sims inventory.

One sim died of old age. The will was created before the sim died, the family moved, will never came in the mail to read out loud for heirlooms to be passed down. Sim proceeded to eat ambrosia to come back to life and cannot create a new will.

Second sim I pressed the option "Destroy will" in curiosity (bad move) and now cannot create a new will via any means (computer, inheritance lawyer, or town hall.)

I've tested by removing all mods, restarting game, copying/reloading save, and with a new clean save.

Edit By Crinrict: Added pack tag to title.

  • Hi gaemairin

do you have this with this particular Sim only Did you use a different Sim on the new save ? Sounds like a potential issue with the will not arriving properly.

I tested this and had no issues creating a new one (I used a heirloom to create a will) so to be sure these were the steps you took on the new save with the new Sim

    1. Created a will
    2. Added some inheritance stuff
    3. Destroyed the will
    4. Were unable to create a new one
  • Same issue here.

I do not have any mods or CC. I'm on PC.

I enabled testingcheats and accidentally killed my Sim after clicking the "Be slain by a Vicious Killer Bunny" in the shift+click pie menu. My sim already had a will completed before death. After turning into a ghost, I ate ambrosia to resurrect. Upon resurrecting, I clicked on my will in my inventory and the only option I had in the pie menu was "Destroy Will". I clicked this and destroyed my will. However, no matter what way I try to create a new will, the option is greyed out and says "[My Sim's Name] already has a will".
