There's an intentional feature of the pack where this can happen! It's poorly telegraphed imo-- the first time it happened to my sim, I thought it was a bug, too. I believe it's meant to represent attachment insecurity. When sims have more experience and a healthier understanding of relationships, their attachments are less of a rollercoaster ride. You might have had a notification or moodlet about your sim's insecurities. It doesn't take long to raise it up again as long as sims are compatible.
As I said, it's not well-explained, but I think if there were a glitch, it was likely a lack of notification because the big drop in romance is a feature.

I agree that this seems like a feature, not a bug, but it’s an incredibly major oversight for it to happen while not actively playing the sims! It should be frozen when both sims are inactive.
The effect of this is that 100% of the time, when I rotate to another household, the relationship is Very Unsatisfied regardless of how strong it was when I left. This is not good, well thought-out gameplay.
Like I said, the Romantic Satisfaction should be frozen while both sims are inactive.
