Tattooed Sims Are A Pitch Black Void

At first I thought this was a mod issue, but it still persisted when I removed the entire mods folder and repaired my game. When I left CAS and entered Live Mode, my sims were completely pitch black, void of texture. At the time it was only happening in Live Mode, not CAS. After entering and exiting CAS and restarting the game several times trying to troubleshoot, when I launched the game again, the households animals also turned black in Live Mode, and upon entering CAS again, all of the sims in the household stayed black- in or out of CAS. Even on the main menu screen. I removed all tattoos from the sims, and the skin color/texture went back to normal. Again, at this point all mods were removed, so I think the tattooing system in the new pack is glitchy, but I'm not sure why it was also affecting the animals.
