If building is not your forte, but you love decorating, just let us know. We'll try to match you with an appropriate builder to create a shell for you. Everyone can experience Bayou Bijou taking shape by downloading the empty base world and installing builds as they become available. Constructive comments throughout this process are welcome, so don't be shy. Please keep an eye on the "News and Updates" post for milestones and links to new creations as they become available. You can also check out in-game Bayou Bijou Stories and Sims from players / creators. Without further ado, onto the details below and come join in the fun! CLAIMING OVERVIEW (Edit! Apr 17/25 - All lots Claimed / Reserved) Download the Bayou Bijou empty base world created by the talented Hidehi2. Take a look at the lists of available lots using the Map posts as reference (see links above). Indicate you're on board for the collab and sign up for your first claim by replying on this thread with your chosen map lot reference # (eg A8). I will update the lists with claims and add download / media links when builds are completed. Every two weeks (approx the 1st and 15th of the month) a new claiming period starting with a 'Claiming Day' post will begin. During this period, if you are now joining the collab or had a build in progress on Claiming Day, you can claim 1 lot. For ongoing participants, if all previously claimed builds are completed and link(s) submitted by Claiming Day, you may claim up to 2 lots. Edit! Effective Apr 15/25, after successfully uploading a completed cc-free build, participants may claim another lot if desired. However, max 2 claims in progress remains in place. Edit! Apr 17/25 - All lots Claimed. See the Map listings for links to completed builds. BUILDING GUIDELINES Please stay within the theme of each map area and general New Orleans, Louisiana inspiration. You have creative freedom otherwise. All Expansion Packs OK for use. All Stuff Packs OK for use. All official EA Store Items OK for use. Free EA Store Items OK for use. Note: Some are no longer available for download so use at your discretion. NO third-party Custom Content allowed. Please Custard Check your lot file before uploading to double check. We highly recommend you play-test your lot before uploading to ensure no routing concerns and downloaders can enjoy your build as intended. Another recommendation is to test placement of your final version. This helps identify any potential issues (windows/tiles out of place, etc). To do this... Export your build, save your game, delete the final version, then use the exported copy in the Library to add it back into the world. Take a look around to see if anything is amiss and correct as needed. It will be useful for players if the Bayou Bijou lot address is included in your build description on the Exchange, albeit optional. Do take the time to put your best foot forward to make your build(s) shine inside and out. Just be cautious about using a ton of clutter since that can add to lag when playing. Each build will be showcased with credit in video walkthroughs on YouTube once the world is completed. Once your build is available on the Exchange, please post a reply on this thread including: Name of build / map reference and/or address / download link / cover picture / custard screenshot confirming no 3rd party custom content included. Optional! Link to additional picture site / thread. SIM / HOUSEHOLD SUBMISSIONS The focus of the collab is on builds as the final world game save will be unpopulated, however we can link to Sims / Households created for Bayou Bijou. Bayou Bijou builders can submit Sims / Households for their completed claims as well as general (eg Townie) use. Non-builders can submit Sims / Households for general (eg Townie) use. All Expansion Packs OK for use. All Stuff Packs OK for use. All official EA Store Items OK for use. Free EA Store Items OK for use. Note: Some are no longer available for download so use at your discretion. NO third-party Custom Content allowed. Please Custard Check your Sim / Household file before uploading to double check. Once your Sim / Household is available on the Exchange, please post a reply on this thread including: Name / map reference or address (or flag as Townie) / download link / 1 cover picture / custard screenshot confirming no 3rd party custom content included. Optional! Link to additional picture site / showcase thread. Sims / Households created by participants for claimed builds will include lot addresses with their listings. Sims / Households created for potential use within Bayou Bijou but not associated with a specific build (eg Townies) will be listed under the heading of Auxiliary sims which players can place anywhere as desired. Hello Simmers! This is my first attempt at creating a Sims 4 Challenge, but I hope some of you guys are interested in trying it out. The general idea of the challenge is to live only off of the land's resources and build the legacy of your dreams, complete with a museum to display all of your collections. To begin: Create two young adult sims in CAS with any traits or aspirations that you'd like. They can be siblings, husband and wife, roommates, etc. Avoid choosing any aspirations that will require jobs down the line. None of the sims in your household will ever have a traditional career. Buy one of the lots in either neighborhood that is empty and costs 5,500 simoleons (either Hallow Slough or Arid Ridge). Purchase one outdoor trashcan. Turn on testing cheats and reduce your family funds to 0. Set lifespan to Normal. Now that you are completely set up, here are your goals: 1. Have a garden full of perfect plants. You need to have at least one of each different type. You must begin the garden with your founders and continue it throughout the entire challenge. The plants can never be put into your household inventory - even when they reach "perfect" quality. 2. Complete the following collections: Frogs Gardening (obviously) Trophies Metals Crystals Elements Fossils Fish Insects 3. Create a museum (completely separate space on your lot to display one of each item from your collections). 4. Build a home that is worth 350,000 simoleons. Now let's make it a bit more difficult. Here are the rules: 1. Until you have completed your first collection, you may only purchase items that are portable. For example - tents, air mattresses, folding tables or chairs, guitars, campfires, etc. The only exception to this rule is your original purchase of an outside trashcan. You also cannot purchase ANY items in build mode, including walls. Note: Although completing your first collection is what unlocks the ability to build and purchase non-portable items, you are not required to build anything until you want to. If you prefer to go the entire legacy without a "true" home, you can! In fact, it's encouraged as a completely new way of living and (in my opinion) quite fun! As long as a home with a worth of 350,000 simoleons is built in the end, you are okay. 2. You can only eat items that you have caught (fish or insects) or items you have harvested (fruits, veggies, and the things that can be cooked from the fresh ingredients you have in your inventory). No cooler or refrigerator quick meals are allowed. You CAN, however, eat food that other sims have left on picnic tables - if needed. You cannot go into other sims homes and eat their food. 3. Because the main goal of this challenge is to finish collections, you cannot sell the first item you pick up of each unique type. For example, if your sim catches 3 minnows and 1 perch, they are only allowed to sell 2 minnows. They must keep 1 minnow and 1 perch in their inventory. The same goes for all other collection types. 4. You can move to a different lot (50x50, for example) at any point, but keep in mind that you must place your garden into the household inventory before moving, and place it on the new lot as soon as you move. You do not have to build your home, but you certainly can if you'd like. 5. Your lot must include a separate space, your museum, that will display one of each unique item from the required collections. You can build your museum at the very end of the challenge or you can start right away, whichever is better for you. I personally like to keep my collection items in one sim's inventory to see if I have any duplicates that I can sell. Once I've completed one collection, I usually put those items in the museum. How you play is completely up to you. 6. You cannot buy any seed packets. All plants must be harvested or grafted. EDIT - It seems that a few of the gardening items may only be found in the seed packets. For this reason, I am changing the rule slightly. After you have 25 unique plants growing in your garden, you may purchase seed packets to find spinach and any other items that are only available this way. 7. You can use local facilities for toilets, showers, etc. if needed, but you cannot use a neighbor's home. No sleeping in random neighbors beds -- even if they are a romantic interest. 8. You may have as many sims in your household as you'd like, as long as they are blood related (after the first generation) or adopted children. 9. You may move sims out of the household, but they cannot come back once they are gone. 10. You may move sims into your household, but they cannot bring any money with them. Like Pinstar's legacy challenge, you must make sure the sims you are moving in are in a household with another sim, or change your funds to remove whatever amount they bring in. 11. None of the sims in the household can have a career. If a sim moves in and already has a career, you must make them quit. Everyone in the house should be focused on building their museum, selling collectables, crafting items, or tending to the farm. If you want a more difficult challenge, start with only one founder instead of two. There is no true way to score this challenge, so it's just for fun. If you can think of a way, let me know. Also, post below if you decide to try it, and link your story if you create one. I'd love to check it out!44KViews2likes75CommentsHow long have you been playing The Sims (any version) for?
I've been playing for 15+ years and have played and transitioned to all versions 1,2,3,4. After playing all these years this game holds a special place in my heart 💗. It sounds corny but this game has been there with me through many different (some difficult) stages of my life and has been my creative outlet to get through some of these stages.14Views0likes0CommentsMarsden Farm Challenge
I am playing my Farming Challenge with a Twist by PianoAshes. Each chapter will be published on Wednesdays at 14:00 Central Time [19:00 GMT - 20:00 GMT in the winter months] Loni and her father, Fred Marsden, fell on hard times after her mother, Eden, passed away. The medical bills took all of their savings. Fred fell ill and could no longer work. They were about to lose their home. In desperation, Fred called an old Army buddy, Tate Curley, in Appaloosa Plains. Tate bought them bus tickets and told them he had a place they could live and that they should come immediately. They packed what they could take on the bus, mainly clothing and footwear. Loni opened her dresser drawer and took out her grandmother's pearls. They were natural pearls with a unique purple color. She placed them on top of her clothes and closed the suitcase. Then she went into her father's room and helped him pack. The two suitcases were heavy, so she could only manage one at a time on the staircase. They called a taxi. The driver put the suitcases in the trunk while they got into the cab. It was a short drive to the bus station. The driver brought their suitcases inside near the loading door when they arrived. Loni went to the counter to get their tickets and two baggage tags to attach to their suitcases. It wasn't long before their bus was loading. Loni made two trips out to the bus with their luggage. They settle into two seats near the front of the bus. It was a long ride to Appaloosa Plains, so Loni had packed sandwiches and drinks in her backpack. Loni Marsden: Fred Marsden: Edited to add: 9722cce410c84e2a Loni's partner is Christian Payne, created by CravenLestat. He and Charlotte moved in with Loni to help with the farm. They ended up getting married. Christian and Charlotte are available on the exchange. CravenLestat also created Loni's Hedgehog shirt, which is available on the exchange. The shirt says: HEDGEHOGS WHY DON'T THEY JUST SHARE THE HEDGE? The hedgehog is saying NO. The model is Michell Forsythe from my Precious Joy Forsythe Family Legacy game.350Views4likes42CommentsNewbie's Populating Newcrest Challenge
I’ve noticed a lot of players taking on legacy challenges in Newcrest, and while I initially had a similar idea, my story had evolved into something different. It started as a rags-to-riches challenge featuring a teenage sim named Phoebe Newcrest, who was "kicked out" of an orphanage when she turned 18... Now, I’m more of an Architect Simmer - focused on building and architecture in The Sims, and it has led me to drift away from family gameplay. To make gameplay more engaging, I've decided to embark on a 100 Baby Challenge to help populate Newcrest. Now, this next bit is going to seem a little sidetracked, but there is a point, I promise. I’ve always been a fan of "The Sims: Bustin' Out," and honestly, I wish EA would create a new version with more challenges that utilize the features of The Sims 4.... but that's a whole other can of worms so anyway to get back on topic; I thought it would be fun to have a 100 Baby Challenge where the children can grow up and start their own businesses, contributing to the growth of the town. The name "Newcrest" inspired me, and I remembered that in "Bustin' Out," the default last name was "Newbie," which I haven’t seen much of lately. So, I’m excited to reestablish the Newbie name and bring the Newbie's back into the spotlight! The Newbie's are here to establish NEWCREST! So, without further ado, let me introduce you all to Phoebe Newbie, our founding matriarch! (Modeled after my lovely self 😉) I have a YouTube channel, but I'm not sure if I'll upload anything yet. I'll keep you guys updated if I do, in case you want to see gameplay footage. As for the rules, I'm playing this on a normal lifespan. The only cheat I'll be using is bb.moveobjects. My goal is to try and have 100 babies in as few generations as possible, and the next matriarch or patriarch will be the favorite child of the bunch who has good sentiments with Phoebe.40Views0likes0CommentsFields of Gold Legacy
I started another legacy. This one begins on an abandoned, run-down farm in Alryne Valley. This lot is available in my Studio on the Sims 3 Exchange. My name is Jade Fields. I am from Bridgeport, but I hate city life. It was crowded, and the air quality left much to be desired. I moved to Alryne Valley about a week ago and have been renting a room at TexanSky Lodge. It is a stark contrast to Bridgeport. I think I'll be happy here. The climate is pretty mild. The spring and fall are nearly twice as long as the winter, and the summer is longer than the spring and fall combined. The entire year is 7 moon cycles long. I have always dreamed of owning a nectary. Last week, I visited a run-down piece of land in the hills outside of town. I was shocked at how dilapidated it was, but it should be worth at least §70,000 once it's cleaned up. I am ready and willing to do the work. A wind turbine on the property supplies electricity to the buildings. The biggest selling point was the Nectar Making Machine in the barn. The previous owners said that it works, but I have my doubts. Once I grow some grapes, I will find out for sure. I'm glad that I am handy. I might be able to coax it back to life. I purchased the property at auction for §15,000. I have named it Fields of Gold. Edited: Her traits are that she is a great kisser, loves the outdoors, is a natural cook, has a green thumb, and is a cat person. She likes fruit parfait, Classical music, and Irish green. I changed one trait to green thumb, but the rest were traits she was assigned. And, of course, I gave her Bottomless Nectar Cellar for her Lifetime Wish. Hi lovely friends! I'm rolling out this quick creativity challenge today April 3, 2020 in an effort to give you more exciting things to do as we all #StayAtHome in the weeks ahead. The main goal of this challenge is to design and upload original creations quickly and on weekends only. The focus of these creativity challenges is to grow your CAS skills since that's the creative section I'm most passionate about in The Sims. However, I may choose to challenge you on rooms and builds too as the challenge continues. The rules and creative direction will be posted here each Friday. Create and upload your entry to the gallery beginning each Friday after the new direction/rules post through 11:00PM MST Monday using the hashtag #GLovelysQCC I love to make Maxis nominations so this challenge will help me find some fantastic things created by you much more easily to share in the nominations threads. It would be very helpful for you to review this link on how Maxis chooses creations to fave before you share your entries. https://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/955438/how-do-we-choose-our-maxis-faves-curation-guide#latest Randomly I will invite a group of talented creators to judge all of the entries during prize rounds. Prizes will consist of The Sims 4 Expansions, Game or Stuff packs as I choose. I will let you know each Friday when I post the creative directions if that weekend will be a judging weekend prize round. In addition, please feel free to share your creations here in the form of screenshots (limit 3), description and gallery links weekend after weekend. Stay safe at home and happy simming always lovelies! 💜53KViews4likes1740CommentsThe Bachelor Challenge
I wanted to attempt to complete one challenge each month this year. We'll see how that goes. I missed January and got sick during Valentine's week which is when I wanted to start this challenge. Oh well. So, this month of love, I'm doing the challenge of "love??", The Bachelor. I've never played this challenge before. I will use the rules from The Sims Challenges. I will post here and also on my site, Nocturne Mystique (episode list on the link). I have all Eps, Gps, Sps, and got the Grouchy trait plus some CC traits. I will not use any of my CC traits. Every Sim must have one of the three Romance type traits: Romantic, Lovebug, Romantically Reserved. The Bachelor will have Romantic and Lovebug traits. I will decide the Bachelorettes romance trait by spinning a wheel online. (I have a mod that gives me 5 trait slots in CAS. My Bachelorettes will have 3 traits plus a Romance one, but my Bachelor will have 4 +1). While creating the Bachelorettes, I changed my mind about using Unflirty as I don’t want to put anyone at a disadvantage right off the bat. Also, I'll probably put more screenshots on my site's version than on here because I'm not sure what the max storage is here (and I've noticed sometimes the images hosted off-site don't show up). I'll try to keep it as essential as possible without taking away the fun. So, if you crave more screenies they'll be over there. And I'll have links to previous and next episodes at the end of each post plus an episode list below.
