EA app does not recoginze external hard drive
I've seen a lot of people playing The Sims on an external hard drive and decided to try it out myself. I have the Seagate Portable 2TB external hard drive HDD and I made sure to erase the hard drive and change the format to Mac OS journaled. I made a copy of my electronic arts folder on the hard drive and changed the download destination, but every time I try to download the game the EA app says the folder does not exist. Just wondering if anyone else had this problem and how could I go about fixing it.Stuck On Loading Screen Forever After Fresh Reinstall
I have tried posting on the EA Help forum (https://answers.ea.com/t5/Game-Issues/Problem-with-CAS/m-p/14362642#M24724) but have not been able to fix the problem. Basically, my game was taking forever to load into a save, and this hasn't happened since I updated both the game with Life and Death and updated to the new Sequoia OS for Mac. I am not sure if this is the cause, but this is when I noticed it was taking forever to load any of my saves. I do not play with CC or mods because I don't want to deal with any risks for corrupted files. I also have all the add-on content installed. Solutions I have tried: Deleting "The Sims 4" folder from my files to regenerate a new folder Deleting cache Going offline Checking system specs: I'm on 2022 MacBook Pro running Sequoia 15.2, Apple M2, 8 GB memory, and have about 93 GB of storage available and use the cloud. I have the game installed on an external hard drive with 5TB. This hasn't been an issue prior to the updates. Repairing the files on the EA app None of my anti-virus programs are blocking EA or The Sims 4 Uninstalled the game, and reinstalled it Uninstalled EA app and reinstalled it Basically, once I start the game, I'm prompted to go to CAS to create a character. I just randomly create one and then once I press the checkmark to save the family and move them into a neighborhood... nothing. It just goes to the loading screen and plays the music for more than 20 minutes. I give up and force quit the program. During this process, there have been only 2 times out of the many times I have started a game with a new "TS4" folder, but it gets stuck on a loading screen again after saving and starting a new a save. Since then, I have reinstalled the game three times and no fix. I just tried it again after the third reinstall and after creating a family, it's just stuck on the loading screen. Prior to the updates and Life and Death install, it would take less than 5 minutes to load into a family, which is why I think this could be update-related. Also, I noticed that if I go into Mission Control, there are multiple windows generated even though The Sims 4 is not running. I am not sure if this is related to the issue but this is something I have not noticed before. I have attached screenshots of this on this post. I am really frustrated and would really love to play this game that I bought. Anyone have any suggestions? I have tried everything that I've found on Google, EA Help, and Reddit and nothing has worked. Please help. The sims 4 not updating at all
So, I've been trying to update my game ever since the new update came out, but it is stuck on preparing, calculating time, ever since then. I tried downloading the update the same day it came out as I always do and this has never happened before. I tried clearing the cache, uninstalling and reinstalling the ea app, I'm at the point where I'm considering uninstalling the game and reinstalling it, but will probably take hours to do so I don't really want do do it, also some thing very weird when it's in this state of eternal preparing the ea app just closes out of no where, like nothing happened, I don't get a pop up that the app crashed or anything it is just not open anymore. By the way my game is on a external hard drive, but there's nothing I can do about it cause is the only way I can play, because my computer dose not have enough space to download the game and I still be able to use it for anything els. I don't know what to do any more. All Sims and Households GONE :(
Hello everyone, I have no idea what to do, I'm not even really sure what I did wrong. For starters I am not a technology person like that whatsoever, and basically my Sims4 game had put furniture for all my houses inside my sims inventories. When I would try to place the items back in my game it would say "SCRIPT CALL FAIL" and after some further research I think (heavy on the I think) one of my mods or CC items was broken or outdated, however, I do not know which one it was. I watched a YouTube tutorial on how to fix that problem and I thought I did it correctly but I guess I did not, because when I opened my game back up it was showing as if I never even played before, and I have 701 hrs. of game time listed in my EA account. It wouldn't even give me the option to load an old game or anything my only option was "New Game." I've tried everything to get my sims back and all my game data, the mods and everything is still on my MacBook Air, they even show up in the clothing and hair/makeup section in the game still, all of the mods stuff is still there, but my sims and households are JUST NOT THEY ARE GONE :( Idk what to do at this point, and I got directed here after speaking to someone through EA Post-Chat. Does anybody know what I could've done wrong or have any advice on what I should do, any tips? Really anything at all :( Please, I've spent SO much money on this game, I've paid for 11 different add on's and I have spent so much time on over 80 sims and so many houses and rooms, so much detail and dedication is just all gone and I don't even wanna play anymore because starting alllll over is not even worth everything I accomplished and had set up with my original sims, their lives, homes, and just everything.Packs got Deleted!
I got a new computer and downloaded everything in my Sims 4 game to my External Hard Drive. Now when I plug it in to my new computer after getting the EA app, none of my packs are registering as me owning them. All of my CC is still there, but all my purchased DLC won't show up in the EA app as me owning it. What folder do my sims packs go in on the mac/external hard drive?Which Mac laptop is best for Sims 4?
I don't know if this has been asked lately, but I had extremely helpful advice from users on the old forum about this around seven years ago. Last time, Bluebellflora and others pointed me to a Mac Pro 15 inch 2017 16gb, which had two graphic cards - radeon pro and intel hd graphic - and a fan. The Sims 4 has run brilliantly on it and I've been really glad that I got it. Unfortunately after heavy use the hardware is beginning to show its age a bit, even though the Sims still works just fine. So, I am starting to look around at what Mac laptops are available to replace it. I have some specific questions, but any tips at all will be gratefully received. 1. Is M3 good enough or do you need to go M3 pro or M3 max? 2. My current laptop has a fan, but I understand the new ones are all solid state so this is no longer something to think about? 3. Probably this is a stupid question, but I am have a big saved game and I am most concerned not to lose it when I get a new laptop. I back up my current game on an external harddrive. If I get a new laptop that is compatible with this external hard-drive, will I be able to just plug it in and transfer my current save over with no issues? Are there any pitfalls to be aware of when doing this? 4. General call out - what Mac laptop do you have, and do you recommend it? The last thread I could find on this topic was on the old forum: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mac/Which-MacBook-is-best-for-Sims-4/td-p/7117235/page/2 Sorry if I'm duplicating a new one though. I'm still trying to get the hang of the new forums. I will delete and copy this post over if necessary.Solved487Views0likes4CommentsWhy can't I download Sims 4 to my hard drive?
Every time I go to download The Sims 4 to my hard drive from the EA app, I get a message saying "something went wrong" almost immediately. I have enough space on my hard drive so that isn't the issue. I have a 'My Passport' hard drive, could that be the issue? Do I need a different hard drive? So confused
