A heartbreak for a long-time fan (Review after 4 runs)
l've been playing Dragon Age since the begining and l've loved it deeply. But "The Veilguard" has left me bitterly disappointed. It feels more like a linearjump-and-run than a true RPG. The world feels restricted-where are the secrets and the real exploration? The dialogues are the biggest letdown. Dragon Age was about consequences, Dut here, feels like Coesn't matter what I lick it all leads to the same outcome. The "kick" is gone. And the omances? They feel rushed and shallow with way too little interaction. Returning characters like Morrigan are shockingly "nice" and have lost their edge. Seeing Varric die and Dorian only as a cameo feels like a slap in #h2 face for veterans. We waited so long for this? The new characters like Taash and Lucanis have so much potential, but the game doesn't let them shine because everything is "fast- paced" and simplified. The graphics and controls are great, but the soul of Dragon Age-the dark lore and the tough choices--is missing. I hope the next game returns to the roots of the Chantry, Cassandra, and the grit that made this series legendary. Constructive Criticism and Story Potential for Dragon Age: The Veilguard As a long-time fan of the series, I see a lot of untapped potential in the storytelling and the handling of established characters. Here are my suggestions on how the depth and "grit" of the predecessors could have been preserved: 1. Blackwall and the Grey Wardens: Blackwall is a character who never truly "fell" but simply went into hiding. He could have been brilliantly reintroduced as the "true" First Warden. A thrilling plot twist would have been to expose the current First Warden in The Veilguard as an impostor and a liar who is keeping the real Blackwall imprisoned somewhere. This would have massively strengthened the moral complexity of the Warden lore. 2. Dorian Pavus and the Leadership of Minrathous: Dorian is one of the strongest characters in the series, but unfortunately, he is wasted here as a mere supporting character (cameo). In Inquisition, it was hinted that he wanted to reform Tevinter. He should have acted as a shadow regent, leading Minrathous in secret. Using him only as a "placeholder" does not do justice to his potential. 3. Morrigan and the "Old Edge": Morrigan seems far too friendly and "softened" in this installment. Fans expect a certain level of aloofness and sharpness from her. It would have been narratively much more satisfying if the player had to win her over again through hard persuasion, rather than having her be so accommodating from the start. 4. Leliana and Harding's Development: The question arises: Where is the master spy Leliana? She could have been shown in "retirement," from which she must first be laboriously recruited. This would have provided a wonderful bridge to Harding: Instead of simply presenting Harding as an active member, a questline could have shown her being commissioned by Leliana. Through contact with a lyrium dagger, Harding could have undergone her own outstanding character development that leaves a lasting impact on her. 5. Cassandra and the Traces of the Chantry: Cassandra could have been reintegrated through the lore—perhaps via a questline where the player follows her trail while she investigates the history of the Chantry or the Seekers. This would have deepened the sense of world-building. 6. Varric: Fate After Death: Varric is the face of the series. His death in The Veilguard carries great weight. A fascinating possibility would have been to include him as a spirit (similar to Cole). Trapped between life and final death in the Fade, he could have continued to accompany us as a melancholic mentor. Conclusion: The graphics and controls are successful, but the soul of Dragon Age lies in hard consequences and edgy characters. I hope that future content returns more to these roots.Arthaland Forest Mire Waterfront Glade Missing Bridge Bug
I have completed solved this puzzle and my Rook says, "Look at that!" you can see the bridge form up then completely disappear. I have tried several times and get the same result. You can see the Island guardian ready to fight and my companions can even get to the island and fight but since I cannot switch to my companion like past games I cannot loot items or fight on the island. Please advise how to resolve. What is your EA ID or Console ID (PSN ID/Gamertag)? Cynarra What platform are you playing on? EA Origins app on PC What is happening? (and what do you expect to happen instead?) The bridge should stay up once puzzle is solved so Rook can access the small island, fight the guardian and loot the chest. Does this happen in a specific area of the game? Shout out to EA for making bioware release a game before it was ready. Im not even mad at bioware for dragon age veilguard. I know they had plans to make it so much better and actually match the rest of the franchise. Bit, EA is so money hungry that they just want to push out unfinished products so that people get all disappointed and mad at the game itself for being such a let down. You suck, EA. Seriously. Why wont you let people finish their games? I waited like 10 years for this game to come out just to be frustrated. The ending was absolutely trash. The writing was poorly written. It was so obviously unfinished. It felt like a bunch of rough drafts smashed together in order to make a deadline because that's exactly what it is. The combat is crap. Even on story difficulty im getting spammed like crazy. Can't dodge roll because the hit boxes are so massive I could be feet away from the enemy and still get knocked down. Then you get 4 reavers in one battle while their all spamming the same 3 moves over and over again. The romances are crap. Most of the plot made no sense. Like the Harding thing. Why go through all those quests with her having those unique powers all for them not to be used at all. You get one whole kiss scene with a love interest and at the end of the game you dont even get a celebration scene. It just fades to black. Seriously? The only entertaining part in the whole game was Solas turning into the wolf, and the only reason that was kept was because it was in the trailer, otherwise EA would've mostly likely had them change that too. Like they changed everything else. Like bro, let bioware cook. They dont need your bullcrap or your deadlines. I love bioware, but I'm beginning to hate EA. Between this is and the Sims, you guys are failing so badly I'm surprised you are even profiting. Good luck in the future, because there are a lot of people like me, ready to drop EA completely and never spend another dime on your trash. K, thanks bye. Hope you have the lives you deserve!Dragon Age: Veilguard DLC Still Missing After 11 Months
EA_David EA_Shepard Just posting here again because I honestly don’t know where else to go with this and I'm sick of having this issue. The DLC I purchased for Dragon Age: The Veilguard is not showing up in my game. It was there last night for a brief moment, then disappeared again. I haven’t changed anything on my end and it’s been like this since release, so we’re coming up on 11 months now where I am having issues with the DLC based off of EA's entitlements issue. I've tried everything I possibly can on my end to fix this: - Verified the game files - Uninstalled and reinstalled the game - Cleared cache - Logged out and back in - Checked my EA account (DLC shows as owned) - Purchased an EA Play membership - Spoke with a bunch of EA support agents - Talked to other players on forums, Reddit, and Discord Still nothing. The DLC just doesn’t show up in-game, even though I paid for it and my account says I own it. Again, it showed up briefly last night, then vanished again for no reason. Every support agent I have spoken to have said the game and the DLC do not show up on my account as owned. I’ve spoken with several EA support agents. Most just repeated the same generic troubleshooting steps that I had already done multiple times. None of them had any idea what was actually going on. No one could escalate the issue or give me any clear next steps. Community members and managers have tried to help too but everyone’s stumped. This is EA Support stating that the game and DLC do not show up in my account: The DLC showing I have it installed and that I own it: Deluxe Edition owned (bought in August 2024): Images of the DLC being locked: Images of the DLC working last night for a few minutes (which has now disappeared again): It’s not just me either. There are plenty of other players dealing with the same thing and it seems like we’ve all just been left hanging. I live in Australia, and under Australian Consumer Law, companies are legally required to provide what customers have paid for. If you sell content and then fail to deliver it, that’s a serious issue. I’ve paid for something that I don’t have access to, and EA hasn’t done anything to resolve it for almost a year. We either need a proper response from someone who actually understands this issue, confirmation that EA is aware of it and are working on a fix, or some kind of compensation or complete refund. At this point I feel like I’ve tried everything and gotten nowhere. EA, please step up and take responsibility for this. The Fate of the Leaders of Thedas (And other characters)
Hi, everyone. Hope you’re doing well. The lack of the Dragon Age Keep (wish it was kept) made me question a myriad of things, including the fates of the characters we had met as the Grey Warden, Hawke and the Inquisitor Did we get any news regarding the fate of the leaders of Thedas in the Veilguard? And other characters we had met in the previous games? Including our former companions. Aside from Aveline and Sebastian and Sten and Marius (not a companion but was Calpernia’s former lover). I’m aware that you can get some of them killed but what exactly happened to them if you had spared them? What happened to the leaders and recruits of the Inquisition, Alistair, Anora, Loghain, Fiona, Bhelen, Harrowmont, Irving, Eamon, Isolde, Connor, Teagan, Samson, Feynriel (who goes to Tevinter if you allow him), Celene, Gaspard, Briala, Abelas, Cyril, Alexius, Calpernia, and Meredith who is somehow still alive (or dead after knowing what happened to Kirkwall in the game)? And the list goes on... Regarding Calpernia, her absence was strange since this game takes place in HER homeland of Tevinter. I can only surmise that she might’ve left the Venatori after you had exposed Corypheus’s plans to her in Inquisition. But what happened to her afterwards? I know that she almost became a companion but that’s it. So… have they all perished in the Sixth Blight or are they still alive? And most importantly, who was the Divine? CheersCamera Position
Please, for the love of God, give us a slider to center the camera behind our character. I've been holding off on playing until this becomes an option and now I hear that the final patch has gone out. The offset camera disagrees with my OCD and frankly makes me a bit dizzy. All my future Bioware purchases are hinging on this feature. Please, allow me to center my player.Bug - Quiver Appearance Not Changed When Applying a Bow Appearance via Wardrobe
Greetings The intent of this post is to bring to attention a rather jarring visual bug present in the game. Others have posted regarding this. I have attached links to their posts. Quiver appearance | EA Forums - 5022933 Quiver Appearance | EA Forums - 5024671 The visual appearance of arrow quivers does not change when applying a bow appearance via the wardrobe feature, often resulting in mis-matched armaments, e.g. an elven looking bow with an Antivan looking quiver. Due to this bug, quivers that belong to bows that only exist as appearances are never seen in game. The only cases where quiver appearances are correctly applied via the wardrobe and match their respective bow, are when using the "Bow of the Fallen Kingdom" from the Deluxe Edition, and the promotional "Watchful Bow". I hope this bug can be addressed. Cheers.''The Dodgy Recruit'' Armor Appearance Consistently Missing from the Wardrobe.
Greetings. During the quest "Blood of Arlathan", Rook and the team wear disguises. Rook's disguise changes based on their class. At the end of the quest, the relevant disguise is supposed to be awarded to the player as an appearance to be applied in the wardrobe. The rogue variant of the disguise, called "The Dodgy Recruit", appears to be bugged and can't be applied. When completing "Blood of Arlathan", the game's UI displays the armor as a reward for completing the quest, however it is impossible to apply the armor appearance, as its icon is not present in the Wardrobe UI. This bug has existed for some time - possibly since the launch of the game - and is present for every new rogue character created. I have seen others post regarding this issue in this forum and others. I hope that the bug can be fixed. Thanks.Weapon appearances for bows not showing up in the wardrobe
Hi BioWare team, I’ve noticed an issue with the weapon appearance system in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, and I wanted to provide some feedback as it’s affecting the overall experience with customization. I recently purchased some bow appearances from merchants, but I couldn’t find them in the wardrobe afterward. After some trial and error, I discovered that the wardrobe system filters appearances based on the currently equipped weapon subtype — for example, if I have a shortbow equipped, I can’t see or apply longbow appearances, and vice versa. While this might be functioning as intended, the system feels very unintuitive for a few reasons: - There’s no clear warning or tooltip letting players know that appearances are locked by weapon subtype. - The wardrobe UI doesn’t show that it’s filtering by weapon type, leading many to believe their skins are missing or bugged. - Players can purchase skins they can’t actually use right away, which is confusing and frustrating. This is especially frustrating because it gives the impression that the appearance system is bugged, when it’s actually just not well-communicated. Suggestions: Add a tooltip or UI label in the wardrobe clearly stating that appearances are filtered by weapon subtype. Consider allowing players to preview and apply all appearances for a weapon class (e.g., bows) regardless of subtype. Alternatively, add a toggle or filter in the wardrobe so players can view skins for all weapon types, not just their currently equipped one. Thanks for all your hard work on the game — the level of detail and customization is amazing overall, and this small fix would go a long way toward improving the player experience. Cheers, eddyt883
