Skate launching from Steam crashes PC
I know this is a known issue, but wanted to add because I haven't seen any official statement or feedback for this issue apart from a few workaround hacks which shouldn't be the norm - including launching from the EA App. I launch skate from Steam like I would any other game (which before I have verified the files prior) and it opens a small screen with a progression bar below - once it reaches to what I'd assume is 100%, screen goes blank as if it's about to launch the game in full screen. Waited 10 minutes and still no luck, so I ALT-TAB out into Chrome to try and restart the program, however I can move the mouse but no clicks or keyboard inputs do anything, including Task Manager - thus forcing me to restart my PC. I've seen workarounds for forcing the launch in window mode, and even when launching the game and the small loading screen comes up to immediately ALT-TAB to another program like Chrome to then wait 5 minutes and you should then play the game, but this is insane to do every single time. NVIDIA is updated to the latest driver (version 581.29 released on the Sept 10th, and running RTX4090, but this needs to be resolved soon as it kills any enthusiasm to quickly launch and play.Still stuck on tutorial for skate!
Been waiting so long to play. One of the first to download it today and yet one of the last to get to play because I am stuck trying to place a marker when it won't let me. Everyone is having the same issue and yet it hasn't been fixed. I can't reset the game and make a new character and start over, or skip the tutorial so we are all just stuck. Yay.Double check that the Flick-It Sensitivity option does literally anything
I have been testing multiflips near the casper hotel (with kickflips) and seeing what movements do a slow, medium and fast flip. I swear to god that whether I have flick it senstivity set to 0, or to 100, there is no difference at all. The same speed of flick controls a slow, medium and fast flip no matter what. If it helps, I'm on PC, and using a PS4 controller. Please do some scientific test so that you don't fall victim to the placebo effect. If you can not find a way to test the exact same input multiple times, do a double blind experiment or something. If I am wrong about what flick it sensitivity even does, you mind letting me know? I tried other things like the min speed to trigger a trick at all or the interpretation difference between didn't tricks and those seemed the same too, although I didn't test those as extensively.Every time I move my right stick upwards, I do an ollie. No flick.
I encountered a glitch while trying to nollie, basically my character does a trick every time I move my stick anywhere that isn’t down. It thinks my right stick is down all the time, but I know it’s not stick drift bc I’m not manualing. It started because I tried to put down a skate jam challenge to play with the people around me, but then when I confirmed it, it never got put down & I was in a weird state where I couldn’t retry putting it down. I tried restarting my game a couple times & the glitch persists so it’s very annoying. I’m unable to do any nollie tricks, whenever I put my right stick upwards it does an ollie trick. Pls help :( been playing for a couple months now, this is my first real issueBring back Skate
I’ve played just about every video game ever dedicated to the sport of skating from Tony Hawk Pro Skater to Today. I’ve skated all of my life too. Skate 3 as we all love was pinnacle. With that being said, tons of takeaways. Reverting and switching grinds is pretty smooth, impressive actually. Visually the game looks good, minus the goofy looking character customization. Even tho video games are in the current phase of micro-transactions, it doesn’t feel right in any skate game. I think the community would like to be able to customize their characters from earning it. That’s what we do, we grind and work towards accomplishments. Not just to pay up on some randomized loot box. I know yal have to make your money, but it could even be like a seasonal game “skate pass” or something. After first play it seems like it’s going to be pricey just to skate. Which the best thing about skating is that it’s free. Also Vee has to go. Not trying to be sexist or anything. But the last thing a skater wants to hear is some chick telling him how to get his line down or to do a trick. Again, not sexist. Women are great but cmon man. It just all seems too corny. “Two to make it true.” Yes we say that but again it’s the feeling, this all feels weird. Skaters, we’re dirty, rugged, we bleed and try again. First question this game prompted was how invested are you in skate culture. I put heavily, then I felt like my mom was teaching me. Love my mom, but I’m trying to skate. Going to play some more and think about more takeaways now. Thanks for all the hardwork and making this even possible EA! Now get back on your grind. There are a lot of spots that I can't skate smoothly in.
To be precise there's this location under ( ) and I cant skate my line very smoothly and I know why, its because the of the wall. If the wall was set up properly instead of looking like it does (image below) this line would feel so much better, and there's great potential for wall rides in the tunnel right after, please fix wall riding too it feels weird. P.s. im mad I cant drop my board and swing my fists, I also cant dark catch please fix this.If you don't change something, this game will die.
I'm really trying to enjoy this game; I've been playing for 80 hours now (which is very little compared to other skateboarding games I've played, where gameplay time is measured in hundreds, if not thousands, of hours). However, I have a serious problem with SKATE: it's simply boring. Until now, I've been completing tasks, completing them over and over again until I reached level 10 in each district, and let me tell you, it was simply exhausting. However, I don't think I've ever started this game just to play, skate, explore... I've been waiting until I feel like it, and I DON'T. I keep wondering what the main problem is, and I think it's the controls. After years of playing SKATER XL and SESSIONS, we're accustomed to very precise gameplay, to controls that allow us to hit the railing with our truck at the right angle. If something didn't work out in those games, it was clearly my fault, so I want to play more and get better. In Skate, it's like I'm trying to do a boardslide, and the rail pulls my board up, and pretty much ANYTHING happens. I feel like I'm back in some arcade Game Boy game where you have to press buttons quickly and carelessly. Like I'm playing a stripped-down Tony Hawk. The only thing I enjoy is riding ramps and doing grabs, because other games couldn't handle that, and SKATE does it more or less okay. Another problem is the game's lack of skate culture. It lacks skateboarding brands, skateboarding personalities, and anything related to skateboarding culture; the game is culturally sterilized. Then there's the lack of a story. I don't know if a story would have saved this game. Maybe it would have encouraged me to play another few hours, but it still won't keep me glued to this game for hundreds of hours. However, the lack of a story is a major flaw. And this whole fuss about some kind of monetary system is just laughable. I enter the game, hoping to have some fun, and today I get a message saying I've received some coins. You can guess where I got them. What am I supposed to do with them? Buy a dress just to stay bored in it? As a final icing on the cake, we can add the long animation for opening these packages that often breaks, showing you opening the same thing twice, and in the end, you still get some crap like a sticker you don't want. On top of that, you can't edit your character's stats, speed, ollie height, flip speed... it's a disaster. This way, I can't use the board to its full potential because there's only one rail height I can jump on. Everything else is out of my reach because my character skates slowly and jumps low. YOU'RE KILLING THIS GAME RIGHT FROM THE VERY BEGINNING. In my opinion, this game is made by people who have no love for skateboarding games, and above them are people who prioritize making money from the game, and that way you won't make any money because the game will die. Thanks EA .....
