Which mechanics do you want and which not?
So we're closing in on the multiplayer reveal. Let's start the discussion on what mechanics from previous titles you would like to see return in Battlefield 6 and which absolutely not? Here's my list. Interested to see what others think. YES Server Browser with persistent servers Rental servers Scoreboard (shouldn´t have to list this but BF2042 taught us otherwise) Limited ammo on vehicles, combined with re-supply stations Jets and helicopters should spawn at base, not mid-air Soldier leaning Squad revive Hardcore mode Basic militaristic cosmetics Class locked weapons 64 players max Modes: Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, TDM, Frontlines, Operations Maps: good variety between AOW and Close Quarters, Naval maps, Night maps 1st person takedown animation Destruction Dynamic weather Realistic movement DLC with 4 new maps, new modes and vehicles every quarter Premium pass NO Specialists Goofy cosmetics Cringe voicelines Excessive spotting In-game wallhack abilities/gadgets Crossplay on by default XL chaos modes 3rd person animations, it should be a proper FPS No excessive sliding, bunny hopping, dolphin diving or sprinting with a heavy LMG That's it for now, but I might add to this list by means of editing the OP.435Views19likes29CommentsMy biggest concerns for the upcoming Battlefield 6
Absolutely HUUUUGE BF fan here, I've put so many hours into BF on Series X/PS5 and PC over MANY years. Starting with BF3, I've played every Battlefield, and had some fantastic times on ALL of them, despite 2042 being my least enjoyed, despite it being a MIND BLOWING game - it just was not for me overall. I would like to air my biggest concerns for BF6. And they echo my issues with 2042. 1) The maps (we will see...) 2) No map filter (This killed BF 2042 for me). 3) Crossplay - with insufficient Input Based Matchmaking. 4) SBMM (So Crossplay can exist with insufficient Input Based Matchmaking). 5) No server browser (So SBMM can exist) 6) Performance. These will make or break my time with BF6. Just like BF 2042, it was such a jaw dropping game in so many ways, and at certain times and on the right maps I had a BLAST, but, due to these issues, for me (and you can NEVER please everyone - that's why we need options/choices with, for example, MAP FILTERS) I fear for the upcoming BF6 game. I am so routing for it though, obviously! Note: To the team who did BF2042 I can honestly say from an objective perspective it was a masterwork (in many ways) - incredible, and I will always stand by that, but, with art, I'm afraid personal preference and taste dictates success, over technical mastery, often.Give BF6 a Thick44 easter egg.
At the end of public beta before release, the map design team should take a poll of the community's favorite map from beta testing and the winner should have a Thick44 easter egg in it somewhere. Like his Recon character from Battlefield friends carved into a cliffside like WAY OUT OF THE WAY or spray painted onto an indestructible wall, SOMETHING to immortalize Tony in a mainline Battlefield title. THAT kind of fan service is what we need from time to time.Core Feedback for BF6 – Player Since Battlefield 1942
Hi EA / Battlefield team, I’ve been playing the Battlefield franchise since Battlefield 1942, and I’ve played every single title and expansion released to date. Battlefield 6 has incredible potential, but there are a few key elements that I believe are worth considering, either before launch or as part of future updates and support. Please note that I have not yet had the opportunity to play the game myself. My comments reflect only what has been shared through official channels and community gameplay so far. One of the most requested features by the community is the return of a full server browser, along with the ability for players to rent or host their own servers using their preferred hosting provider. This has always been a foundational part of Battlefield’s identity and community longevity. It’s not just about matchmaking, it’s about giving players control and ownership over their experience. That said, from what has been shown so far, the current server system still looks like a form of matchmaking, and unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be any indication that a true server browser will be implemented. Despite being a long-standing and repeated request from the community, this feature continues to be overlooked, and I believe it’s something that deserves serious reconsideration. Another defining feature of the franchise is destruction. While some destruction appears to be present in BF6, I haven’t yet seen the level of full-scale, dynamic destruction that we had in Bad Company 2, where entire buildings and map structures could be leveled. From the official presentation and after watching multiple streamers play the game, I noticed that many objects in the environment, like fences, barricades, and certain structures in open areas, stayed intact even after being hit by vehicles or sustained gunfire. I understand that not everything in a map can or should be fully destructible, especially for balance or technical reasons. But obvious elements like those should still react to player actions and feel destructible when it makes sense. Based on what’s been shown so far, destruction still feels somewhat limited. I really hope this aspect can keep evolving, because when destruction is impactful and unpredictable, it adds immersion, tactical depth, and brings back the raw chaos that made Bad Company 2 so memorable. Reactive environments have always been a key part of what makes Battlefield stand out, and it would be great to feel that again. When it comes to progression, I want to emphasize the importance of classic systems like medals, ribbons, and assignments, which added real depth and motivation in games like BF2, BF3, and BF4. I truly hope to see a proper rank system, assignments that reward effort and teamplay, separate progression for classes, vehicles, and weapons, and meaningful unlocks, not just filler content. I also would have loved to see the return of the custom emblem editor, as it gave players a way to express themselves and build squad identity, but I understand that might not be part of the current UI and menu design. I understand that Battlefield Portal will return, which could be a great tool for community creativity. However, there’s also a valid concern that many of these classic and essential features might end up locked behind Portal, as they were in BF2042, without real impact on the core game or progression. These systems should ideally be integrated into the main experience, not limited to a sandbox. Battlefield 6 has massive potential, and the community has been very vocal about what they want across forums, social media, and streams. I truly hope the team is listening to both longtime veterans and new players alike. This is a great opportunity to bring the entire community back together and restore Battlefield to its roots. Thank you for your time and dedication, A loyal fan since 1942
