Under the Hood: Turning up the Heat
Hold up . . . we are back! What have we been up to? Well, as you can imagine, we’re in the business of making games, and Need for Speed games at that. You can also probably guess where this is going, but for those who haven’t– a new Need for Speed game will be releasing later in 2019! This year is a bit of a special one for NFS, too, as we are turning 25 years. We’ve had almost 25 years going fast, and we can’t wait to kick-start our 26th with the next NFS game. And while we’ve had some great memories over those twenty-five years, we’re not here to look back and reminisce. We’ve got our eyes set firmly on the future. But even while focusing on the future – especially this year – we’ve also thought a lot about what NFS means to you, and perhaps more importantly what we hope it will mean as we move forward. Cars naturally top the list. You could say that the cars and customization of NFS are the beating heart of what we do. Without either of these, NFS fails to exist as we know it. These two elements play a pivotal role in the series and are two aspects that we consider to be foundational, meaning they aren’t going anywhere because NFS wouldn’t exist without them. But NFS is also the culmination of many different aspects, and there’s a special essence that appears when all these aspects come together at a very high quality, an essence that helps create that unique NFS feeling. You could say this essence is our DNA, and it’s exactly what we’re injecting straight into our next project. Tradition, and our above note about a new game later this year, dictates that this is the time when you’ll be eagerly hitting F5 on our Social Media channels, waiting for that first detailed sign of something new, for that first teaser to drop. But let’s hold fire on that for now. Because traditions are all well and good, but they can also be broken, and new ones forged. Just because we’ve done something one way for the last few years, doesn’t mean we should continue to do so. Are you going to hear more about the next NFS title? Yes. Is it being released this year? Yes. Will we be doing anything in June? No. It’s as simple as that, but we wanted to give you a heads up before you started asking “where are you?” Our goal is to deliver a truly memorable high-speed entry into the 25 years of NFS, rather than a series of promotional events. The game matters most – a sentiment we bet you share with us. With that, know that we’re here, we’re building an amazing game that we can’t wait to show off, and the next time we talk, we’ll be packing our bags and heading south for the full unveiling. We’ll see you then. – The NFS Team225KViews80likes271CommentsList: Maxed Car Comparison (Ultimate+ & Engine Swaps)
Hey all, Figured it would be a nice change of pace to have a constructive thread about the game for once. I unlocked all the parts in the game and thought it would be a good idea to put together a list comparing all the different cars, incorporating all their costs and performance measures. Hopefully this picks up some interest and maybe even save some of you time on cars you wouldn't want. In my comparison: 1) Each car is taken to the Speedway circuit race event (4 laps around Speedway) and raced for 4 "perfect" times (4 races per car). By "perfect" times, I refer to full races of no collisions, no bumping of walls, and maintaining cornering speed above >180mph (some cars excepted from this), to measure the cleanest possible race time. Each car was limited to 3 uses of the 15lb nitrous tank per race (not using Nitrous Duration auxiliary perk) 2) Each car is fitted with what I deemed to be the best engine, all Ultimate+ engine components, Dual/Twin Turbo, Track Suspensions, Racing Tires, and Track Differentials. Each car had a 15lb nitrous tank. The only variation in components came from gearboxes, where some cars achieve a higher performance on a 6 or 7 speed transmission versus an 8 speed. 3) The Speedway is a fair comparison because it incorporates long stretches of straight road, as well as long curvatures for the U-turns, which fairly assesses maneuverability/handling. Below is a summary of results thus far. The list is organized by "Average Race Time", which is the average of each cars' four (4) race times. Right-click the image and "Open Image in New Tab" to see the full-size screenshot. The results show the most cost-effective cars, on a relative performance level. Below is each car's cost breakdown: Special Mentions: -Lotus Exige S: the handling on this car really surprised me; it is able to go around the turns very easily, without ever letting go of the gas, and is able to maintain >210mph on the turns. It is incredibly quick and nimble. -Ford F-150 Raptor: the truck really lacked in turning capability; it had to be slowed down to as low as 145mph to make the turns. Very slow acceleration and definitely not worth the $1m worth of investment. -Volkswagen Beetle: the car is hilariously quick, but has absolutely no turning capability and starts to slide really hard beyond 220mph on turns. Took me ages to run 4 good races. I was also thinking of incorporating my own personal rating of each car's handling, depending on how much interest this thread gets. Given that many cars significantly lack in handling and maneuverability at high speeds, I think this is a very important consideration. Let me know what you guys think!186KViews42likes71Comments"High Heat Rewards" icon is under my character's shoe and does not disappear
Product: Need for Speed Heat Platform:PC Summarize your bug "High Heat Rewards" icon is under my character's shoe and does not disappear. You do not know exactly which part you've earned until you go through the parts listed under the "Performance Tab" What car were you using? 1993 McLaren F1 Was the car your own build or downloaded from the in-game community? Personal Build What was the last event you played? Valkyrie - High Heat Level 5 Race Was it a day or a night event? Night Event How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%) Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Completing either a High Heat 3 or 5 race OR completing both High Heat 3 and 5 race in one night. After completion it says "you've earned a volatile part". Go back to garage and usually, the high heat rewards icon show for awhile and disappear around where the character is standing. But for some reason, I don't see which part I've earned and the only thing I see is, "High Heat Rewards" written under the character's shoe and remains like that until you restart the game. After restarting the game, "High Heat Rewards" icon disappears until I earn another "Volatile Part" by completing either two High Heat races. What happens when the bug occurs? In the garage, after completion of high heat race and earning a "volatile part", it says "High Heat Rewards" around the bottom of the character's shoe and it is aesthetically displeasing to see whilst tuning your car and hanging out in the garage. What do you expect to see? To show which "Volatile Part" I have earned on the garage screen after completing any High Heat race and that the "High Heat Rewards" icon disappear completely after a short while. I've been having this bug ever since I bought this game which was on August the 6th 2020. It would be much appreciated if anyone from the NFS Team can fix this issue. Personally I think this bug applies to every single engine, chassis, drivetrain and auxiliary part you earn as you progress through the game. The notifications that you've earned the parts do not show and you need to figure out which parts you've earned by going under the "Performance" Tab then going through "New" Parts you've unlocked. If anyone has this issue as well, it'd be much appreciated if you guys let the NFS Team know about this bug. Anyway, Cheers!SolvedHigh heat races rewards?
Hey all, Quick question here. For the ultimate and ultimate+ parts it says you need to unlock em with high heat races. Now i am not at 50 at the moment (still at 35) but ive completed 2 high heat races so far, which gave me the pink parts icon on the minimap. So my guess is here, that i should drive to a safe house asap while having that pink icon on my minimap to get it "banked" so to say. It is indeed gone from my minimap when i enter the garage and exit again, however.. Its not shown in my parts list when i want to upgrade the engine, tires, weight differential, etc etc. So, the 2 parts that i brought home, will they only unlock when i hit rep level 50 or something like that? Or shouldnt i bring them to a garage or safe house, but to a parts shop, or even a dealer instead? Thanks in advance for helping me out with this. Cheers, MaraNFS Heat not launching

Hello there! The team has been working hard on finalizing the June update, and we’re happy to announce it will be released tomorrow, June 9. It addresses the missing vanity items for 100%ing the game and you should encounter DR1005 less often. We’re also thrilled to announce that cross-play is coming to Need for Speed Heat, allowing you to cruise Palm City with your friends, regardless of platform. It’s been quite a packed week for Need for Speed, and we have published an article on our website that tells you everything you need to know beyond the update notes. We switched up the order in which the update is released for the platforms, starting with Xbox, followed by PlayStation and then PC. More info about estimated file sizes and timing at the end of this post. Now let’s jump into the update notes, starting with the newest addition: Cross-play. Update Notes Cross-play Added Cross-play functionality across all platforms. Once you’ve installed the June update, you will be prompted with the option to activate cross-play, which you can later find in the privacy settings in the game menu. Opting in will allow you to race players across PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on the same server. You can search for friends in the Find Players menu. Head over to the Party Menu and check the new EA Friends tab to see who’s online across all platforms. In order to create a party and invite them to your game, they naturally need to opt-in for cross-play as well. In the game, you will see icons next to players' names, indicating which platform they’re playing on, and you can use the proximity voice chat to talk to them. General Fixes Improved cop car logic to reduce occurrences where cop cars significantly reduced player car health in one hit. Some cops would behave very passive while in a pursuit and not perform maneuvers to stop your car. They should now be more motivated to take you down as long as they’re actively pursuing you. This is no overall buff or nerf of the cops, it just affected a small percentage of cop cars that were pursuing, but not engaging. We fixed an issue where some rewards didn't trigger correctly when hitting 100% of collectables. You should now receive the vanity items Rainbow Nitrous, Black Tire Smoke and the “If you’re happy and you know it” horn. Made a few tweaks so you should encounter error DR1005 less often. Similarly, the probability of inventory synchronization errors has been significantly reduced. Visual When rushing through the tunnel in Mendoza Keys, you should no longer encounter solid walls popping in. Fixed an issue that could cause vegetation to appear on roads when choosing low and medium graphic settings and using a specific video card. The ‘Racer Challenges’ in the garage should no longer be displayed after reaching Rep level 50. The ‘Rival Crews’ menu is no longer visible in the main menu when you boot the game while offline. Fixed an issue where a time trial wouldn’t show any ghost car when you started it. After driving to a time trial starting point, looking at the leaderboard panel should no longer be blank. A specific beanie was only visible from close range, now it can also be seen from afar. Audio Cops will now refer to the McLaren P1 GTR correctly in cop chatter. World Reworked train wagon collision models in Fort Callahan to prevent your car becoming stuck under them. We took a closer look at a few spots where cop cars could drive on the bottom of the ocean or riverbed. Their cars should now get wrecked as intended, and while they’re busy with their own cars, they should no longer be busting you. Cars Added a sound system interaction point for the Aston Martin Vulcan ‘16. All colors should now be displayed correctly when using specific paints on the side of the Chevrolet Camaro Z28. Decal interaction points for the Lamborghini Aventador S ‘18 and the Roadster variant now work as intended. The second set of stock rims now is aligned with the tires of the Land Rover Defender 110 ‘15. Added a sound system interaction point for the Land Rover Defender 110 ‘15. When using the wide Porsche rear fender on the Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 2.8, aftermarket tail light tints should now be displayed correctly. The Alchemist rear bumper for the Ford Mustang ‘65 is now displayed correctly. Decals applied to the Varis front bumper of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX ‘07 will no longer vanish when accelerating. You can now purchase the stock spoiler for the Nissan 180SX starter car. The model of the Porsche Cayman GT4 2015 now has the spoiler equipped that is displayed in the dealership icon. Added missing sound system interaction point to the Volkswagen Golf GTI ‘76. Added missing sound system interaction point to the Volkswagen Beetle ‘63. Events The AI drivers would follow interesting routes in a handful of races. We took a look and they should now stick to the racing line. Fixed an issue that could occur when you restarted a time trial after finishing it for the first time and beating the ghost’s time. The UI could behave in a way that would display the ghost from the first time trial run, while you were actually competing against the next best time. That could lead to situations where you thought you beat the opponent, but you also didn’t. This should no longer occur, and the ghost that you see is the one your time will be measured against. When completing the ‘Picknick’ time trial and coming in second, you should now receive the correct amount of Bank. You should now be able to restart the ‘Upload’ mission as intended. We also improved overall stability and fixed rare instances where the game would crash or hang.
