Reinstalling Sims 3 on a new computer
I am finally getting a new computer and I need my Sims 3! Can I just move my folders over (Origin/1.69 with the LazyDutchess launcher)? I don't have all discs as I bought some items from Origin directly. If I can't just move my folders, what should I do? Get the old discs off ebay (Kind of want to do this anyway for safety)? Buy from Steam (scary, they could pull it and there goes my money)? EA App :'( ? Would I still have all my store content with these methods (including download only towns)? Thanks for any help!113Views1like0CommentsThe Sims 3 Won't Launch on Windows 11
Hello, I recently bought a gaming computer that is running Windows 11 Pro. Sadly, I can't get the Sims 3 to play at all. Once installed, I open the launcher and hit the play button. The launcher closes, and nothing happens. Does anyone know of any fixes or workarounds? I even did a clean install of my system thinking there was something corrupted, and the problem still persists.310Views1like5CommentsQtcore4.dll not found solution
Qtcore4.dll is part of EADM and should be in c:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\EADM directory (for 32 bit systems). If it's not there you need to reinstall eadm. Download new version at - http://eastore.ea.com/store/ea/html/pbPage.welcome?resid=S2mdKgoBAkcAAB2caUcAAAAX&rests=1265212714560 OR: http://www.ea.com/1/download-manager Uninstall old eadm and install eadm you just downloaded. This should not affect the playability of the game as this is only the download manager.17KViews1like26CommentsHow to move Sims 3 folder to different drive from C drive?
Hello everyone! I have this huge problem that has bothered me for quite some time now. Basically my Sims 3 folder is stored in documents > Electronic Arts on my c drive. Since my c drive only has space for 109 GB, this takes up a considerable amount, and even after countless efforts to clean up my drive, it has only left me with 15 GB. I have windows 8.1 and I finally got the courage to try and install windows 10, but it seems to fail, and I have reason to believe that it is because of my disc space. I need help, please. I love this game but I do not know how to move it. I do not want to uninstall it, but it would be stupid to reset the entire computer over a single game, but it feels like I am running out of options. Please help me out.1.4KViews1like18CommentsStore Content Uninstalls Itself and Cannot Be Reinstalled
I've enjoyed TS3 for many years, but recently I've run into an issue that is bringing me to my wits' end. Starting a few months ago, my game has begun to stop recognizing my installed store content. The game will work without any issue for days or even weeks. Then, without any warning, one day I'll open the launcher and be able to tell that the game is broken again because my 'Installed Content' tab lists only my installed store venues (as CC) and nothing else. If I try to reinstall my store content from my Downloads, the game gives me the following error: "Installation failed: Please make sure your game has the latest Software Updates and try again." In the past, I had some success fixing this issue by doing the following: Rename the Electronics Arts Folder containing this file to something like "Old-Electronic Arts" Attempt to open the game by launching the game through the EA App. This will generate a brand new EA folder. Close the game. Copy the Saves, Screenshots, SavedSims, Mods, Library, Recorded Videos and Installed World folders directly from the Old-EA folder to the newly generated Electronics Arts/Sims 3 folder. 4. Open the Old- version of the DCCache folder and copy all .ebc and .dbc files (anything that is not a .tmp or the missingdeps.idx file) and paste it into the new DCCache folder in the newly generated Sims 3 folder. Do the same thing with ccmerged.package in DCBackup. The first time I encountered this problem, that was all I needed to do to fix it. The next time, I was baffled when this exact same process failed to fix the problem. I then added a 5th step of deleting the SigsCache folder from the NEW file after it failed to load, and miraculously, my content was back. The problem is that even now that doesn't work. My last desparate attempt to fix the issue was to do a complete reinstall of the game. I then redownloaded every piece of store content from the store website, and found that I was actually able to install everything properly. After about an hour, my game was finally working again. That lasted for three days. I opened the game up again today... and all of my content was gone once again. I realize now that the only way the game will actually install my store content is if it's downloaded directly from the store while the launcher is open. If I attempt to use what it's downloaded previously, I receive the same error about software updates. I've also noticed that SOME of my old content will actually be reinstalled. Most of the items appear without thumbnails in the launcher, but a few random items in the launcher still show up properly. Those few items will re-install without the launcher complaining, but it refuses to process the rest of the folder. As far as I can tell, there is no difference between the items that it still recognizes and the ones it demands that I re-download. Obviously, I cannot re-download the entire store every single time I want to play the game. Does anyone have any idea how to stop this problem from cropping up, and why it's happening in the first place?75Views1like11CommentsI recently had a new computer built with Windows 11 and now Sims 3 won't Launch
Hi, I have been slowly trying to reinstall my programs and I now reached the Sims 3 and Expansions. I decided to first just install the base game only to see if it would Run. I used the original disk version of the game. It installed just fine and the launcher opened but when I pushed the play button nothing happened. I then downloaded and installed DX Redist June 2010 to see if that would help it had no effect. The launcher once again opened but nothing further happened when the play button was pushed even though all expansions worked fine on my previous Windows 10 System. I fear this is a sign my Hardware is now too new to support Sims 3. Here are my current system specs if anyone has any ideas on how to get it to Run. System Model: Z690 Extreme BIOS: 13.02 (type: UEFI) Processor: 12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700K (20 CPUs), ~3.6GHz Memory: 32768MB RAM Available OS Memory: 32526MB RAM Page File: 11737MB used, 22836MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 12 DX Setup Parameters: Not found User DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled Miracast: Available, with HDCP Microsoft Graphics Hybrid: Not Supported DirectX Database Version: 1.4.6 DxDiag Version: 10.00.22621.0001 64bit Unicode PS: I also noticed that the Launcher won't download Game Update patches either, the Update now button is Greyed out and it says my game is up to date even though I know it isn't. Does anyone have any other suggestions. If Sims 3 is no longer playable for me I may have to Drag out my ancient Windows XP Laptop and install my Sims 2 Disks. Even Sims 2 is leaps and bounds better than 4 is my humble opinion!308Views1like4Comments
