You have sent everyone from the office home since you only have one more client to interview. You want to make sure everyone gets home safely before it really gets bad on the streets. Since it is Friday, this means a slow weekend in front of the fireplace with a good book. You smile at the thought as you make more hot cocoa with marshmallows. The bell on the office door jingles gently as someone enters, and you turn around to greet your client. He is a very tall and thin man with hair so black it shines blue. His eyes are a dazzling blue, and his lips have a ruby glow, probably from the cold blowing winds outside. He never left a name, so you are curious about him as he carefully stomps the snow off his shoes on the mat before walking towards you. You walk towards him with a piping hot mug of cocoa and greet him warmly. He returns the smile and follows you into the inner office. Once you are both seated and sipping cocoa he begins to talk. "This cocoa sure hits the spot!" he exclaims merrily. "What a delightful welcome! My name is Jack Frost-well, I should say it is Jonathan, but I have been called Jack since birth. I run a bar in the next town. I should say I ran one. It was very popular for years, but a tornado wiped it out last summer. I was devastated for a while, and I just could not see myself rebuilding over there. So I finally decided to come over here and build a new business." He takes another slurp of cocoa and sighs in appreciation. "What kind of new business are you looking to start?" you ask patiently, happy he likes your cocoa. "Well, that is the thing," he admits wearily. "I don't really know. My family have had many businesses, in the past as well as today. I want to do something different. I have two real loves. Now don't laugh! Art and dogs!" He chuckles. You join in his laughing at two such separate loves then prompt him, "Have you decided which you want to pursue?" "Absolutely not!" he says cheekily. "That part I am leaving up to you! I have $197,500 to spend. Make me a kennel or an art gallery, whichever you like. I will get the necessary licenses once I have seen it. The only two requirements I have are a large office with a private bathroom for myself with loads of green in it and a large break room with entertainment as well as food warming and a fridge. Employees deserve the best, in my opinion!" "That is very generous!" you exclaim, awed by the thought. You know many people who think of employees last, so it is good to hear someone of a different cloth. You continue to question him until you see a real trend towards one of the businesses. The snow is already ankle deep when you both finally leave and part in the parking lot. Your mind is swirling with ideas as you drive cautiously home in the blinding snow. The brief: -make either an art gallery OR a kennel to board animals. -budget is $197,500, including the price of the lot. -include a parking lot; landscaping; public restrooms; a large break room with entertainment, a way to heat food, and a refrigerator. -include things applicable to the business (art for sale, kennels with part fencing for animals, etc). -include a large private office with its own ensuite and shades of green! -include an entrance area with some seating and a desk or cashier area. Note: For those without any pet expansions, you can build a basic kennel with children’s toys as squeaky toys, there is no need to include animals. CC is allowed as well. The Room Challenge: -budget $35,500. -create the break room with entertainment, a food warming device, and a fridge. The Sim Challenge: -create Jack Frost and give his talents, likes, dislikes, etc. -show all his clothing options. -show him looking over his new business! One room, One week, One theme
http://i.imgur.com/i2li8o5.jpg?1 I thought that I would start a thread where Simmers can post rooms that they create based on a particular theme that is chosen for that week. There will be a theme given for the week, and during that week simmers can post rooms related to that theme. Come to this thread and post pictures of your room! It will not be a contest where there is a winner. The simming community is the winner because we all then have new rooms to download and use in our games/builds ! I just want to encourage everyone to post rooms. Your rooms will all be very warmly welcomed here! It will be interesting to see the different rooms that sims create based on the chosen theme! It will also give us new furnishing and design ideas! More information in the next posts!

Sims 4 Room Challenge
http://www.demon-heart.com/sims4/doris/Logo.jpg The Sims 4 Room Challenge is meant to test your management of social activities without the presence of other Sims. You build an 8 x 8 room on any lot of your choosing, move your Sim inside, and then delete the door! Your sim may not leave the room until the challenge is complete. The final goal is to complete the Mansion Baron aspiration without ever getting a job, friends, or exiting the allotted space. ------------ Step 1: Create your Sim! Appearance is irrelevant. Make them look however you wish, and with whatever traits you wish. There's just one exception: You may NOT choose the "Loner" trait. Mine is Doris Dolores. I made her a rather finicky Sim with the Outgoing Trait for extra challenge! Doris can be found in the gallery under #theroomchallenge or under my username katoregama. She's just my mascot though. Feel free to make your own. However, you may only have ONE SIM in the household. http://www.demon-heart.com/sims4/doris/doris-01.jpg ------------ Step 2: Add traits and aspirations. Again you may NOT use "Loner". All other traits or starting aspirations are acceptable. Bear in mind however, you are not allowed to switch Aspirations until you reach a point where they are completed, or impossible to complete. Choose wisely! I did NOT choose wisely, as Doris's Gregarious trait will not help her in any way during the challenge. You get to use all of the game's initial starting funds to help you get on your feet. I chose Bargain Bend in Willow Creek, but every lot is available as long as they are empty and bulldozed when you move in. Once you do, build an 8 x 8 square room. You don't necessarily HAVE to build a box, but keep the maximum tiles around 64. http://www.demon-heart.com/sims4/doris/doris-03.jpg ------------ Step 4: Feel free to make your house look nice and pretty, and again, use whatever starting funds the game has available inside or out. http://www.demon-heart.com/sims4/doris/doris-04.jpg ------------ Step 5: Move your Sim inside, then DELETE the front door. http://www.demon-heart.com/sims4/doris/doris-05.jpg ------------ Step 6: Your home is your castle, be it ever so humble. So humble in fact you've only got an 8 x 8 grid to work with. However, you can fill the inside with any decorations, furniture, skill objects, toys, computers or whatever you please. Keep in mind you will need to make money without ever getting a job or leaving, so things like fishing and collecting are out. Painting, Programming, Gardening, or Microscoping are all valid means of obtaining income. You are more than welcome to build anywhere on your lot to achieve the objectives, such as 30 windows, 20 columns, and a final lot value of $350,000. You may check your progress on Mansion Baron at any time, but again, you may NOT select a new aspiration until your current one is complete or impossible. Your Sim may start off with any traits or aspirations you wish EXCEPT "Loner". 3. A hard-mode would require your sim to take the "Outgoing" trait. GETTING STARTED 1. Choose any lot you wish, as long as you bulldoze every object from the lot before moving in. 2. A small 20 x 15 lot is recommended to give you maximum starting funds. 3. Build an 8 x 8 square room. Foundations are acceptable. You may build a porch and front door at the start. 4. Move your sim into the room, then delete the door. They may not leave under any circumstances. 5. You may only use ONE SIM in the household. BUILDING RULES 1. Walls may be any height. 2. You may NOT build a staircase to the second floor. 1 Floor Only. 3. Access to a mailbox is allowed, but only if it is in a location within the acceptable confines of your 8 x 8 room. 4. The above is possible by having a corner of the room outside, but fenced off. The mailman won't be able to use the postbox, but you can! EXAMPLES: 12 5. You may place any objects, beds, skill objects, or furniture within the confines on your room. 6. You may place walls and doors within your room. 7. You don't necessarily have to build a boring cube if you don't want to. Just keep the final floor plan around 64 tiles, and it will be fine. 8. You can build an outdoor area of your room, or make the entire room a fenced off outdoor area, as long as it fits within the space, and prohibits communication with other sims. GAMEPLAY RULES 1. When gameplay begins your final goal is to complete the Mansion Baron aspiration. 2. 30 windows, 20 columns and $350,000 worth of stuff? Yes, you ARE allowed to build outside of your room. 3. You can build anything, anywhere, at any time, as long as your sim never leaves their 8 x 8 area. 4. You may NOT switch aspirations once one is selected, until it become impossible to complete, or is completed. 5. The exception to the above, is Mansion Baron. You can switch to it at any time to track your primary progress. 6. You may spend points on any rewards you wish, excluding the "Independent" reward, and "Moodlet Solver" 7. Your sim is not allowed to have a job, making money gains difficult. 8. You may turn aging on or off as desired. SCORING You START with a score of 100 points. - 1 for every day that passes, excluding day 1. - 10 for every time the social need reaches critical. - 10 every time utilities are shut off from unpaid bills. +10 for every skill that reaches level 10. +5 for ANY Aspiration Stage you complete.*** ***You cannot complete any aspirations requiring you to leave home or make friends. So you will not be able to complete many aspirations in full. Welcome to my Showcase Thread, and thanks for visiting! A little bit about me: I'm not really a game player but I do LOVE to build and have been creating since Sims 2 came out. I mostly built for myself (back in the day), then started joining building contests and challenges in the old Sims 3 community forums, which then led to me becoming a member of the DNA request team and started creating for others for six years. I have been participating in several world collaborations most recently and it's been a lot of fun. I've learned a lot about building in these past 10-12 years and have improved quite a bit since those early days. I'm a stickler for details and aim for realistic interiors in my creations.
