Community Update: Overcharged, Era Arena and more!
Hello Holotable Heroes!
A while back, we shared a teaser about what was coming next for the Era System. Today, we're excited to share more details about a new Training Mode, Overcharge, and Era Arena
TL;DR
- Overcharge: An Era specific system that lets you pick your stats directly and reset them for free whenever you want to try a new squad setup.
- Era Arena: A new PvP mode made for Era Shards. It features a board of 6 opponents, daily scoring based on your best battle, and shared tags between Era and Loaned units.
- Ecosystem Updates: Squad Arena is retiring to make room for a new Training Mode, along with simpler arena currencies and new profile search options.
Overcharge Overview
Mods are great for Legacy modes, but we recognize relying on Mod drops doesn't work with the fast 12-week Era cycles. Overcharge gives you a simple way to customize stats for Era and Loaned units without extra farming or random chance. You get total control to build your roster the exact way you want!
Accessing Overcharge
Every Era Unit and Loaned Unit has access to Overcharge from their Unit Details screen as soon as you unlock them. Overcharge stats show up in parentheses next to stats on the unit's Stat page, similar to Mod stats, and work in all Era game modes. Want to see what other players are using? You can check out their Overcharge setups from their profiles anytime!
Stat Groups & Multi-Tier Progression
Each Era has 6 stat options from which you can choose for each character. These options may change between eras to promote alternate strategies. Each option includes a primary and a secondary stat boost. Upgrading is easy, just use Overcharge Points to unlock stat boosts!
This lets you focus on specific stats of your choice.
Zero-Cost Respec & Reallocation
You can change your Overcharge Point allocation across any and all units at any time for free. All your changes save automatically when you exit, making it easy to test new ideas for upcoming battles.
In-Game Recommended Stat Guides
In-game recommendations suggest 1 to 3 stat options for each Era and Loaned Unit. These tips help you quickly find strong combinations, but you still make all the final choices.
Shared Roster Point Pool & End-of-Era Conversion
You increase your Overcharge Level by playing normally. You can then spend an equal amount of Overcharge Points on each of your units, both Era Units and Loaned Units. Boosting one character won’t hold back another, so you don’t have to worry about which characters to build up. At the end of each Era, your points automatically turn into Mod Materials ("dusting") to help your roster keep growing.
How Overcharge Works
Unit Details Integration: Access Overcharge directly from the Unit Details view for any active Era Unit or Loaned Unit as soon as you acquire them.
Stat Point Allocation: Spend Overcharge Points across stat options in multiple tiers to boost stats of your choosing.
Shared Roster Point Pool: Increasing your Overcharge Level increases the number of Overcharge Points available for all Era and Loaned units, so spending points on one unit doesn't hinder others!
Era Arena Overview
Era Arena is our new PvP mode made for Era content and will give you a place to experiment with the new characters and compete on your own daily schedule.
With this introduction, we have added a new visual indicator in-game to help you quickly gauge the Era Level Delta effects.
Getting Started & Landing View
Arena Table Access: Era Arena takes center stage right at the front of your Arena Table. The visual will give you an instant snapshot of your remaining daily attempts, current rank, total banners, time until daily reward payouts, and an unplayed status badge/icon.
Interactive Home View: The main screen shows your defense squad and gives you quick links for Opponent Selection, Leaderboards, Reward Info, and Mode Rules.
Squad Rules & Category Tag Sharing
Full Squad Requirements: Battles require a full 5-character squad containing at least one Era Unit alongside your Loaned Units.
Faction Tag Sharing: Era units share select faction tags with all other units brought into the squad during Era battles. This unlocks incredible synergy options and opens up broad theorycrafting opportunities.
Fresh Era Shards: Era Arena uses the same Era Shard system as Coliseum, so you’ll have the opportunity to compete with the same opponents in both places!
Matchmaking & Opponent Selection
Dynamic Matchmaking Board: Opponents are drawn from your Era Shard and displayed in a horizontal list similar to Territory Wars. Tap any unit tile to inspect their stats!
6 Opponent Options per Roll: Each refresh presents 6 potential opponents categorized by their Bounty:
- 2 Dangerous Opponents: Higher-ranked targets that grant maximum bonus banners on victory.
- 2 Risky Opponents: Balanced matchups for reliable, steady banner progress.
- 2 Secure Opponents: Accessible targets to guarantee easy daily attempt completion.
Flexible Rerolls: Opponents refresh automatically on your first visit each Era Day and after every battle. There is a limit to how many manual refreshes you can do a day.
No Waiting, No Blocking: Simultaneous attacks are fully supported! More than one player can attack the same target at once, and you can jump into a battle even if another player is currently attacking your squad.

Attacks, Banner Scoring, & Automated Defense
Daily Action Cap & Cooldown-Free Battles: Jump into battle whenever it fits your schedule, there are no cooldown wait timers between attack attempts! Attempts refresh daily at 11:00 AM Pacific.
Daily "High Watermark" Scoring: Your weekly leaderboard score is the sum of your single best attempt of each day that week.
Earn banners for damaging enemy Health & Protection, surviving with ally Health & Protection (on victory), and defeating higher difficulty opponents.
Subsequent lower-scoring attempts never reduce your daily high score, so feel free to experiment with new teams!
Stress-Free Defense: Your defense automatically updates the next day with your new best score on attack from the day prior. Successful attacks against your defense won't take away banners from your score, eliminating rank-sniping worries.
Leaderboards & Rewards
Three Leaderboard Views: Track your standing across Era Shard (ranked rewards), Guild, and Global leaderboards. In case of banner ties, ranking is decided by the first player to reach that banner count.
Weekly Reset: Banner totals reset every Tuesday at 11:00 AM Pacific for a fresh weekly race!
Daily & Weekly Rewards:
Daily Rewards: Claim daily rank rewards directly from the Leaderboard view at the end of each Era day. Unclaimed daily rewards are safely delivered to your Inbox upon logging in if you forget to grab them!
- Side Note: Coliseum is also changing to this system
Weekly Rewards: At the end of each Era week (Tuesday 11:00 AM PT), rank rewards are automatically delivered straight to your Inbox.
Era Season End: All final daily and weekly rewards at the conclusion of an Era go straight to your Inbox.
Ecosystem Updates & Quality of Life Updates
Squad Arena Retirement & The Arrival of Practice Mode
With Era Arena taking over as the main PvP mode for Era content, Squad Arena is officially retiring. To make sure players still have a space to test team setups, practice strategies, and try out Datacrons, we are adding Training Mode!
Note: You can apply Datacrons on both offense and defense.
It will be accessible anytime in the Squad Management inventory screen.
Training Mode Ruleset: Battle using any units you own (up to 1 Galactic Legend per side, same-unit matches allowed). Note that quests will not progress from Training Mode battles.
This is our initial run at Training mode, and we will look into how we can adjust and improve based on your feedback, post launch.
Streamlined Currencies
Unified Arena Currency: Squad Arena, Fleet Arena, and Grand Arena currencies are combined into a single, convenient Arena Currency with a simplified store tab featuring bulk purchase options. More information will be provided later as this is still in active development.
With the introduction of Era Arena, we want to take this opportunity to introduce quality of life improvement for shipment purchases. Squad Arena, Fleet Arena and Grand Arena Currencies will be replaced by the new Arena Currency. Their shipment tabs will also be retired but the purchasable items in these shipments will be migrated to the new Era Arena shipment.
Currencies consolidation, conversion rate, and Things you need to know about the new Currency.
The existing balance of Squad Arena Currency, Fleet Arena Currency, and Grand Arena Currency will be converted to the newly introduced Arena Currency. The conversion rate is as follows:
|
Retiring Currency |
Conversion Rate to (New) Arena Currency |
|
Squad Arena Currency |
0.50 |
|
Fleet Arena Currency |
1.00 |
|
Grand Arena Currency |
1.5625 |
Different from traditional currencies, the new Arena Currency will have a cap limit of 100,000. In the event of a player having more than 100,000 Arena Currency after the conversion, the over-cap balance will remain, however, new currency will not be added to the balance until the balance falls under the cap.
We recognize that some players have a really high balance of the retiring currencies and that it will take a considerable amount of time for them to spend down their balance ahead of the conversion date. As such, we will be introducing new purchase options in these shipment tabs in an upcoming content release. The new purchase options for each shipment is as follows:

Arena Shipment
We had the goals to make the new Era Arena shipment easier to browse, retaining options found in the previous shipments, and bringing in new options that are valuable to new and returning players. With these goals in mind, we will have these options available in the shipment at launch but we will be continuing to monitor engagement and make adjustments in the future as needed.

Quality of Life
Battle & Raid Improvements
Raid Battle Restart Button:
A new "Restart" button has been added to the battle options menu during Guild Raids.
- Tapping it brings up a confirmation dialog (Yes/No).
- Selecting "Yes" immediately ends the current battle (without submitting a score) and starts a new attempt instantly using your pre-selected team.
- You will bypass the Guild Raid UI and Squad Selection screens entirely for a seamless retry.
Cooldown Clarity: In-battle abilities that affect unit cooldowns will now be clearly communicated in the combat text/UI.
In-Battle Unit Info: Added percentage displays for Health, Protection, and Turn Meter to the Unit Details pop-up during battle.
UI & General Quality of Life
"Hide UI" Feature: Added a "Hide UI" button to both the Era Arena and Coliseum home screens. Simply tap anywhere on the screen to bring the UI back.
Campaign Navigation: You can now click anywhere on a campaign tile to immediately enter its relevant table.
Event Completion States: For Challenges and Events, once you complete all activities inside, the status button will change to a blue "Complete" button.
Squad Auto-Fill Toggle: A new setting in the Gameplay Settings menu allows you to enable or disable Squad Auto-fill on selection screens. Disabling this stops the game from auto-filling slots from your roster, but will not prevent your previously used squads from populating.
Readable Numbers: Added standard punctuation/commas to all numbers on the Unit Details screen for better readability.
One-Tap Clipboard Copy: You can now copy key player information directly to your clipboard with a new copy icon. This supports:
- Ally Code
- Player ID
- Player Name
- Guild Name
Character & Ship Upgrades
Instant Promotion: Tapping "Promote" in the Unit Details screen will now instantly promote the unit to the highest possible Star level based on your owned shards.
Upgraded Celebration View: Leveling up (Training) and Star levels (Promotion) have received a visual polish update:
Training: Unit level numbers on the tile now scroll up dynamically.
Promotion: Stars animate sequentially based on the level reached, with all numerical changes tallying up.
"Upgrade To" Ability Batching: Ability upgrade screens (for both characters and ships) now feature an "Upgrade To" button on each tier tab.
- Tapping this shows a confirmation dialog displaying the target level and all required materials to reach it.
- A warning/confirmation prompt will appear if the batch upgrade consumes Zeta or Omicron materials.
Gear & Relic Overhauls
Batch Gear view: Unit Details now display only your current Gear Tier (instead of current and next). If all slots are equipped, the green button advances you. If slots are empty, a blue button opens a new Batch Gear View:
- A slider lets you select target gear tiers (completed tiers are checked and skipped).
- Tiers you have materials for are shown at full opacity; insufficient materials show at partial opacity.
Missing Gear Panel: Collapses if you have all required gear, or lists missing pieces in a XX/YY format.
Consumed Gear Panel: Displays all owned gear that will be consumed to reach the selected tier.
Rarity Warning: A warning will display if attempting to upgrade to Tier 13 on a unit that is 3* or lower, keeping the upgrade button locked due to the star requirement.
Visual Alignment: Tier 13 features unique visual treatments based on the unit's alignment.
Batch Relic Selection:
Unreachable relic tiers are now dimmed if you lack materials.
Actionable Relic levels feature lit "dotted lines" connecting them, while unavailable ones remain dim.
The game will automatically snap/select your next available relic level centered in the frame.
Bottom screen containers are now colored based on your unit's force alignment (Light/Dark).
Updated Profile & Quests: Search and filter your unlocked portraits and titles using a new text search box on your profile. Daily quests now require 1 Era Arena attempt, while Episode quests take either Fleet or Era Arena wins. Your past Squad Arena wins will stay on your profile as Legacy Squad Arena Wins.
We can't wait for you to try out Overcharge builds, and fight for the top spot in Era Arena. Thanks for being part of the Galaxy of Heroes community, and we'll see you on the Holotables!
See You in the Holotable!

EDITED ADD:
Crit Defense is a new stat coming with this release that acts as the counterpart to Crit Damage. Just how Crit Avoidance reduces the chance that an attacker will critically hit by subtracting from their Crit Chance before the chance roll is made, Crit Defense on a defender will subtract from the attacker's Crit Damage stat before multiplying the damage when a critical hit is scored.
Note that the Critical Damage multiplier is clamped to 1.0, so you'll never deal less damage from a crit than you would have as a non-crit.
