Datacron Release Adjustment

Hello Holotable Heroes,

My apologies for the lack of post about this, chalking it up to the holiday hangover.

The release cadence of Datacrons has always been a bit awkward with Conquests, and Eras have put a spotlight onto that. To better align our content in a more cohesive way, we have tweaked the timing for Datacrons.

Instead of releasing every other month and lasting for 4 months, Datacrons will now release each month and last for 3 months. To account for this increased release schedule, we will be lowering the complexity of each set with the goal of it being a net neutral amount of information to keep in your brains.

We will monitor the impact of these adjustments and as always, your feedback is important to the team, so please share with us your thoughts as you interact with these adjustments.

Edit information added:

  • Starting with Set 26, Reroll costs for Datacron between Level 4 and 6 have been halved.
  • We have reduced the amount of factions per set from 4 to 2, which should make it easier for you to get the affixes you’re going after

guessing they don't want everyone to ear about this before it happens imagine they feed back they would get

  • I dont usually complain about this game, because most say what's others are thinking. SMR3 is my issue. Talks of a R9 tier and hasn't been the case. Personally only went after pkh for the SMR3 event, and its highly disappointing to even have to say "What about the R9 tier in SMR3"

Add in the delay of the event being released long after acquiring pkh, and its like im joining the people that say

    This game is bs

  • Yeah, we hated this the first time you did it, this is probably the last straw that makes me quit this game! If you dont spend money, you can't be competitive, gotcha loud and clear!

  • Oh fun. Another update nobody asked for. The CG special. It's funny how they ask for opinions like it actually matters. If you really cared, you would A: Ask the community BEFORE making the change. And B: You would actually do things the community has asked for, for years. But go ahead. It's your game. Live in your own bubble.

UPDATE TERRITORY WARS! (To make it more fun and competitve. Not just to drive more money into your pockets)

Posted this in my guild, gonna post it here too. I know there are changes being made to datacrons, but here is my take on them in general:

They should not be available as anything more than stat boosts for teams, or possibly low-level ability boosts by class. Nothing absurdly game-changing like damage immunity to start the match or a highly accelerated ultimate.

There should be no character, alignment, or faction boosts. These should be limited to the whole team or at the very most a class boost. I recognzie that DCs can be used to make older, less-useful characters relevant again, but it's kind of subjective on who is "relevant," especially at different levels in the game. This is the only time, if done right, to give characters a boost at an individual level.

Ditch the rotating schedule. Make them permanent like mods. Basically, make them like mods for the entire team. There can be a lot of fun in this, finding and rerolling a cron to fit a team perfectly.

I know some people like datacrons, but putting aside the idea of them being an absurd concept as they currently are (is MLB going to let a player use roids and bring in the fences for an entire team each month? lol), they have broken the game sooooooo many times and caused a lot of headaches for a lot of people. There are literally billions of character combinations in a five-person squad, so even with automation and forecasting, it's highly unlikely that all combinations can be tested with each datacron. Things are going to break when all possible scenarios can't be tested. There are always going to be fringe examples, but things like the BB/Vader bug and now Rex's FDC have shown us time and time again that it's a dangerous system that continues to be problematic.

    Long winded, SNS.

Has the important feedback of all but like 2 people out of 125 comments been that this is horrible and shouldn't be done been noted by the team yet CG_Meathead?  Have they noticed that roughly 98.4% of players say this is horrible and shouldn't be done?  Have they noticed that this is actually undoing an old fix that took us away from this proposed change because it was horrible for the game?  Because our feedback is important to the team, right?

  • Why does anyone care that eras don't line up with DCs? You cant use the new stuff anyway.

Oh and you are passing on more cost to us to try and get legendary characters at  stars since its no longer enough to buy 6 marquees to 7 stars! Now I need to buy packs to get to level 85 to get Spidy Maul at 7 stars?

Sorry this was supposed to be about Dcs.

They’re really trying to burn everyone out they want us to spend more time in the most time consuming part of the game. Also the worst part of the game

  • The pace is even harder this way. And on top of that, we need the whole R6 team to get the latest levels. Good job on killing the DTC for the average account. I used to put a lot of resources into it, but that's over now.
