Re: How to get into the town hall portal

The exact error message will provide the clues as to what the exact issue is. Very often the problem will be traced back to parental settings restricting online multiplayer or an account linked to a minor which has certain restrictions set because of the age of the user.

The exact error message is : the title Multiplayer error

    Content of the error :

You or a member of your group does not have the correct permissions to access online features.

I have gone through the account settings for my logged in user profile on the xbox and the content is set to unrestricted. I cannot find anywhere where the DOB or age gets set.

  • I've logged into my EA account via my PC the DOB is set correctly there and shows that i'm over 18

  • Based on that message there is a setting somewhere on your system for either you or the other persons account who is Split Screening with you which has a restriction against online play- as I said before this can be typical for accounts belonging to children.

I'm a PS4 owner myself so I can't walk you through this one, but if you can't find any information maybe a Xbox player will pop in and provide instructions.

After setting both our ages and signing both players into the xbox one before loading the game, we managed to get in. We got in for the duration the town hall was open for. The second time the town hall opened we could not get in again. I think it's because I have not subscribed to xbox live. I haven't subscribed because my son plays the game with me and I'm not sure how xbox live works i.e. if it's per console or per player. I don't really want to pay for 2 xbox live accounts for the amount of games my son plays.

I believe that Xbox Live works similarly to PS+, in that you only need one subscribed account on the system and the other accounts on that same system "piggyback" on that single subscription.

However it's important to note that the Mystery Portal in Town Hall is strictly online Multiplayer/Co-Op so without an active subscription you are blocked from accessing whatever game mode might be featured there that week.
