The amount of time needed to finish a prize map is ridiculous

Title.

The current prize map you need a whopping 204 prize bulbs to fully finish.

120 of these are available from character and daily challenges assuming you play every single day of the month

To get JUST the shogun corn upgrade and assuming you play 30 minutes a day, it takes overall 15 hours  assuming you didn’t earn any other bulbs in this period.

Considering people usually earn 2-3 bulbs an hour and we assume players are earning the regular amount of bulbs while doing these challenges, it takes about 28-38 hours to fully finish the prize map which is frankly a ridiculous grind.  And you MUST play daily on top of that.

Even the fastest method in the game right now which is due to an xp glitch takes a minimum of 10 hours to reach 204 bulbs.

The question is: why?

Why did Popcap make earning bulbs this incredibly tedious, these events aren’t fun anymore, just grind inducing.  The fact is Popcap still hasn’t mentioned any plans on bringing back event cosmetics players missed out on, and the promise of being able to buy the legendary upgrades with rainbow stars seems sour due to the currently low earn rate of them.

Many players including myself do not like this insane grind and want to be able to enjoy the game without fear of missing out on the prizes.  As of right now it still takes way too long to earn the 204 bulbs needed to clean out a prize map, as while 15k xp was reduced to 5k xp, 50 more prize bulbs were added to this map and prize bulbs no longer come in the weekly challenges.  20-40 hours of grinding is the same level of a free to play game which Battle For Neighborville is NOT.  Updates in the past games added cosmetics and variants in packs anyone could buy with coins at any time, not like this where you have to spend 20-40 hours each month.

So to Popcap, we humbly request you look into this and make the amount of prize bulbs needed to finish event maps much less as well as increasing earn rates of them from daily and character challenges so players are not forced to play daily for prize bulbs.  5K XP needed to get a single prize bulb is not ok if it still takes 204 bulbs to finish a prize map, hopefully my post shows this issue of how tedious it is for players to finish prize maps.

  • The grind in this game is ridicoulos most of the new stuff are just cosmetics that probably won't ever be available again and I'm tired with a good amount of time in this game having to grind like its destiny so people dont notice how shallow the game is on actual content.

  • @ScreenhogRSnail  I think it was fine to increase the amount of prize bulbs needed to finish a map, but why by such a huge amount? If the developers wanted to make it more tedious to finish a prize map by making it cost more, how about if they either reduce the XP required for a bulb or increase the rewards from daily or character challenges? There are players who are busy and don't have much time in a day, or like to play other games as well (me included). So, I don't mind the developers increasing this cost, but can prize bulbs be slightly in higher abundance and a bit easier to get? Then again, there are always "farming techniques" you could use if you were desperate! 🙂

  • This month price map is dumb, there are skin and hat that cost 20 freakin bulb, but they definetly not woth such price, they should be 10 max 15 bulbs, and ill be glad if devs reduse price for this stuff and return bulbs to people who already unlocked them.

  • @ScreenhogRSnail That's PopCap's strange decision to reduce the amount of XP needed to achieve one Bulb in the first place just to increase the Bulbs needed to finish the Prize Map. I don't get it.
  • @ippig Yes, it doesn't make much sense.

The problem with the prize maps are twofold, I think.
For those with little time and / or other games the maps require a lot of time investment & the fact that at present there seems to be no way of obtaining missed items another way, will ultimately put players off completely from returning to the game on a casual basis.

For those with more time and / or don't play other games, the maps are pretty much the only thing left to play FOR, given the whole currency / Reward-O-Tron situation.
These players can more easily complete the maps, yet the whole process of doing so can still feel tedious.

I think something needs to be done about missed map items, Reward-O-Tron & for the prize map to be reviewed.
It would be far better if players were completing the map easily but continuing to play because there was lots to do & they were having fun, than to feel like they're forcing themselves to play.

Let's also not forget that without good internet the pve areas are the only option to grind, seriously why do we not have solo matches in bfn it would make the grind less miserable.

  • My biggest issue with the current map is that 20 bulb Chomper costume. It should be 10 or so and not 20. It's just not different or amazing enough to justify that cost.

I wouldn't mind them making things a bit cheaper in bulbs overall either. I was very happy to see the 15k per bulb dropped to 5k, 15k was far too much xp for a bulb, and I know one reason the map is large and full of items like this is to encourage people to play often and/or buy bulbs. If this situation is bothering a lot of the player base, they need to adjust it. I've been getting through them every month and am ahead for next month but not everyone can spare the time and/or spend money for bulbs. As always, I want to see people encouraged to play more, not discouraged .
