Re: [PC] Plants vz Zombies - "We could not activate on this computer"

So I own the standard edition of Plants Vs. Zombies. Installed it today after not having it installed for a long time. Now it's giving me an error message saying it can't activate Plants Vs. Zombies game of the year edition.

That's not what I own, or what I am trying to play. It's asking me for a product key. I tried to enter the product key for my edition of the game, but I can't even get to that part. When I click the "Enter product key" button, it says "An error has occurred. We've noticed your computer is offline." and tells me I need to be online to activate my product. Clearly I am not offline. Neither is my EA app.

I've tried repairing the game. Uninstalling/Reinstalling. Turning EA app offline and back online again. Also turned off EA app completely and relaunched. None of these have worked.

What can I do to resolve the issue?

  • Hi EA, any fix please? I have the same issue despite being online and correctly logged in to ea play, other games work etc. I also suspect it's some kind of mismatch where they've not upgraded standard edition to GOTY license equivalent. If we don't have standard available online with EA play then it needs adding into the library otherwise please update all standard keys to GOTY valid. Thanks!

  • At the Moment? Right now we have october and this Bug still persists... my 5 year old wanted to play and can't... we didn't have this bug in Origin...

    @Gorgha @CptnButtscar @HecticBru @Darmaniwolf @QTGRRL  Hi guys, are you all from England or America?
    if not and you have the game installed in your native language, try to unisitall and before reinstalling change game language to ENGLISH ONLY GAME LANGUAGE not EA APP.
    it worked for me i had game in italian asking me Activation code, putting it in english it worked fine. hope this can help you

    It does not seem, that the support is going to help us soon.... I mean i understand that they don't put all their ressources on an 5$ game, to get their own DRM caused bug fixed... but not answering for a week isn't a good thing. One more time EA dissapoints me pretty much..

    Hey, all.

    Wanted to follow up on this one. This issue is not one support can resolve for you. Having support send players to the forums won't get it fixed either as Community Managers cannot fix these types of issues. These are fixed by the games teams for each game.

    This issue has been escalated as this error has affected more than just this title. Once there is an update on this one we will post that info here!

    It simply takes too long. This is a game (most) people paid for and cannot play it. Wow.

    I'm having the same issue for over a month now. I've contacted EA support about it twice but no response!  Did you ever get the problem resolved?

    Hi EA Team, 

    i have a same problem i come from Malaysia, my game version i choose english, try and try your provide the option for solve the problem, for this option is same like i go to find support, i have xbox game pass, so very lucky i no need purchase and become this problem and EA cannot fix it, i see many player is ask in this topic, so did your find out the pecfect way for fix this? actually i am so angry, because i ask support until end they say may be try ask xbox support can fix it, but until today i see this topic only i know your cannot fix it!

    easy fix
    game installed in other languages than EN?
    it will ask for a product key
    unistall it and reinstall in EN. no product key needed

    No, it was installed in English. 

    Ive tried uninstalling , it didn't work.
