Upon death in fleet battles using an Oculus Rift CV1, the game performance severely degrades and the entire system is affected. Before the start of the kill cam rendition, everything slows down and becomes laggy and extremely choppy. The game becomes unplayable. When observing task manager during this occurrence, system memory spikes up when this bug happens. This system slowdown is also reflected through Discord, where users report hearing very choppy and robot-like sounds coming from my microphone when I try to speak. Alt-tabbing out of the game and alt-tabbing back in removes the lag. This bug is able to be replicated, as when I die after fixing it, the entire system lags again. This bug happens every time I die during fleet battles. The game runs fine and this bug does not occur when playing or dying in dogfights.

  • @AsianAviatorSame issue. Also using Oculus and playing with Steam. As a temporary fix, tabbing in and out seems to ameliorate it sometimes.

Also happens during the victory/defeat scoreboard with the pilots after a game, in all modes not just fleet battles

  • @AsianAviator Also running into this same issue, even after the new update.

Also worth noting that I encountered the same bug multiple times in the last level of the single-player campaign after dying and reverting to the last checkpoint, the game simply became unplayable.

Didn't encounter it playing the rest of the campaign in recent weeks, but post-update and playing today the issue was consistent.
  • Same problem on Oculus Quest 1, also occurs when dock with the flagship to swap out ships.

  • @AsianAviator Also happens to me on RTX1070 with Quest 2 and Oculus Link, running through Origin (no Steam).

It doesn't happen on every death, and I'd say it happens more often if I purposefully dock with the flagship to change ships... it might happen more if I do so during a phase change in the map.
  • Exact same problem here. It's absolutely killing the game for me. RTX 2080 Super, i7-9700K CPU @ 3.60GHz, 16 gigs of RAM. Running on a Quest 2 using Oculus Link. The same problem occurs using Virtual Desktop. All graphics settings are set to low. Drivers are all up to date. Did fresh install of everything: game, drivers, controllers. Checked all USB ports. It's the game. Please fix it in the next patch.

Yup me too. I feel a little better knowing that I’m not alone but this sucks nonetheless . Some people seem to be playing just fine, but I get crazy lag in fleet battles, not in the other modes.

I feel like it has something to do with rendering all the chaos, but I can find a remedy for it when all of my settings are practically at their lowest. I feel like the oculus might be out of sync with the refresh rate. I have no clue.
