Nintendo Switch Pro Controller No Longer Working with Steam (Jedi Survivor)

Help please!

I am running Jedi Survivor on my PC with steam using the Nintendo Pro Controller.

When I initially connected my Nintendo Switch Pro Controller via Bluetooth to my PC and then open Jedi Survivor it all worked perfectly. I played 48% of the game and was really enjoying myself. I then went away and when I returned the controller no longer worked within the game and the blue light was missing. I have read so many articles but nothing seems to explain how to solve my issue.

After some playing around in steam > settings > controller> desktop Layout (edit), I was able to get the blue light to return but when I enter the game only one joystick works, to look around, it is also linked to my keyboard to do anything else. I would really love some help, I have tried:

- uninstalling the devices (Bluetooth and connected)

- turning off and on all the external gamepad settings

- changing the controller settings by right clicking on the game

At the moment I have only enabled "steam input for switch controllers", my desktop layout (edit) is enabled with "official layout for - desktop configuration" and my guide button chord layout (edit) is enabled with "official layout for - steam button chord basic configuration". The controller settings in game are "Enable Steam Input". At this point I honestly can't remember what worked and which I have turned off and on to make it work...

I had to do one more step between 3 and 4.

In Steam (for the EA Launcher), I had to go tell it that the Nintendo Pro Controller was available.

    App Properties -> Controller
    Enable Steam Input

I don't recall that controller being officially supported.

Ignoring the fact that a modern controller not being supported is ridiculous, whether or not the game supports it shouldn't matter if launching the game through steam. In every single other game I've played on steam so far, steam maps the pro controller input to an Xbox controller without issue. This seems like a major bug.

  • If you haven't found a solution yet, here's how I made it work...

    1) Add EA launcher to Steam: Game menu, Add a Non-Steam Game, then get EALaunch.exe

    2) Make sure EA Launcher is closed AND your Switch gamepad is connected to the bluetooth (if you open the EA Launcher first, it doesn't seem to pickup the gamepad)

    3) Start Ea Launcher from the Steam interface.

    4) Start your game from the EA interface that opened.

This works for me when playing Jedi Survivor.

    Hope this helps you
