If you haven't found a solution yet, here's how I made it work...
1) Add EA launcher to Steam: Game menu, Add a Non-Steam Game, then get EALaunch.exe
2) Make sure EA Launcher is closed AND your Switch gamepad is connected to the bluetooth (if you open the EA Launcher first, it doesn't seem to pickup the gamepad)
3) Start Ea Launcher from the Steam interface.
4) Start your game from the EA interface that opened.
This works for me when playing Jedi Survivor.

I had to do one more step between 3 and 4.
In Steam (for the EA Launcher), I had to go tell it that the Nintendo Pro Controller was available.
App Properties -> Controller
Enable Steam Input
