Problem with PS4 Star Wars Battlefront 2 Installation
So I bought and installed and played and enjoyed Battlefront 2 when it first came out. In fact I got the deluxe edition or whatever it is called. Then a couple of weeks ago, after one of the updates I guess, the game started acting weird by making clicking noises and glitching out by saying unrecognized disc or corrupted data when I put it in. There were also a few times when I tried to start the game and the whole screen starting glitching, forcing me to restart my PS4. About a week ago it got to the point where I couldn't really play the game at all, it worked maybe 1 out of 10 times I put the disc in. Keep in mind I have cleaned the disc in multiple ways many different times and there are no scratches or anything on it at this point. I have also inserted several other discs into the console and they all work just fine. I also also rebuilt the database of the PS4 multiple times. So I went back to Gamestop and traded my disc in for a new one to see if that would help. At first, it did. Then it started doing the same thing a few days later. So this time, I deleted all traces of Battlefront 2 Data from my system, freed up more free space on the hard drive, cleaned the disc thoroughly, rebuilt the database from safe mode and tried to do a clean install with a week old disc that is perfectly clean and without a trace of a scratch. Since that, I have not been able to get the game installed again. I am having the same issue others have talked about experience on these forums with this game now where I can't get it to install at all because it keeps hanging up and perma pausing. I have tried every combination of cleaning, deleting data, rebuilding database and reinserting the disc and none of it has worked. I am in offline mode also to prevent it from trying to download the 1.05 patch before I even get it installed and I figured that might help. At this point I really don't know what to do. I spent $80 on this game and I really enjoy playing it, when I can get it to work. I don't see how it could be the disc, unless I got two discs that were both in a messed up batch. Its not my hardware, because every other game works just fine. The only option I am left with at the moment is to reinitialize the system, which I will probably try because I don't give a * about anything else on there, or take the game back and get in store credit I guess, I doubt I will see my money again even though I can't even play the game.
