Re: No sound whatsoever

Hello @WholisticRO and thanks for reporting in. I've the feeling that this 'sound' issue you are having is unrelated to the 'old sound bug'. But let me make sure, here are some questions:

1. Do you have sound on your PC if you play from youtube or directly from your file browser?

2. Does the sound come back if you restart your PC and reopen the game?

If you really do not have any sound in the menu, than this has nothing to do with the old sound bug.

If you don't have any sound in game but do have on your PC from other sources, then it might be a problem with SWBF2 settings. If you upon up the game go to sound settings and reset them back to default (just to make sure). I understand that you already reinstalled the game, so I don't think it depends on that.

Really curious if all your other sound is gone as well

Hello and thank you for your reply,

My sound works perfectly well with other games and browsing and so on. Otherwise I would not have considered in the first place that the game is the culprit. I've played with the game settings to no conclusion.

If you go under the windows settings of your PC to the sound mixer: bottum right probably on your screen the speaker logo.

Can you see SWBF2 in that list?

    Hello @WholisticRO

I am really sorry for those issues with sound in the game. Can you confirm if sound works perfectly fine with other games, launched with Origin client? Have you tried to use headphones, connected to your PC through jack plug? Disabling Origin in-game for SW Battlefront 2 might also resolve this issue. Keep us posted.

    Cheers,

    Archi

Hello Archi and thank you for the reply, I've tried both plugging headphones and disabling Origin in game from Game properties, none seem to fix it.

Did you tried to repair the game? (in Origin > Game Library > right click Battlefront II > Repair, I know you reinstalled, please do it anyway.)

    If that don't helps:

    • make sure Origin is completely closed.
    • Go to your "Documents\STAR WARS Battlefront II" folder and move the "settings" folder to your desktop.
    • Start Origin > Test the game.

If that also don't helps, create a DxDiag in text file format and post it with your next reply. You can do that  with the "Choose file" button at the bottom right corner of the reply window.

Did you run the Windows Sound diagnostics for several times?

    • Press the Windows key and "X" at the same time.
    • Choose "PowerShell" (Adminisrator)" or "Command prompt (Administrator)" (Depends on the OS)
    • Inside the "PowerShell" or "CMD" window, at the prompt, type or copy and paste "DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth" (Without the quotes) > ENTER
    • The validation process should start after a short while.

After it reached 100%: (If you get a error message, please inform us)
    • Press the Windows key and "X" at the same time.
    • Choose "PowerShell" (Adminisrator)" or "Command prompt (Administrator)"
    • Inside the "PowerShell" or "CMD" window, at the prompt, type or copy and paste "sfc /scannnow" (Without the quotes and the S must be a lowercase inside the power-shell) > ENTER.
    • If a repair was successful > reboot > test.
    • If not, post the concluding message.

@holger1405 I've done both scans and both ran smoothly with no error findings. "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.". So it is definetely a game issue, nothing to do with my OS nor my hardware.

I doubt that this is a game problem.

There are enough sound related errors in your DxDiag, so this is most probably a Windows issue.

The problem is to find the culprit.

Asked before: Did you run the Windows Sound diagnostics for several times?

    • Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time.
    • Copy and past or type "services.msc" (without the quotes) > ENTER
    • Look for the "Windows Audio" service.
    • Right click the "Windows Audio" service and choose "Properties"
    • Click on the ""Dependencies" tab. > You will see "This service depends on the following system components" > expand all.
    • Also expand "This system components depends on the following service"
    • Look in the main "Services" window if all this services are labelled as "Started"
    • If yes, start the game, ALT TAB out and look if this services are still running.

Furthermore, please preform a clean boot and test the Game afterwards.

    If that don't helps:

It is mind-baffling. So what worked was the clean boot. I just had a clean boot, did nothing but re-enable or the important start-up apps, restarted, and there you go, there's sound. Thank you very much @holger1405 !

    @WholisticRO

    You're welcome!

Then it seems that something you did not enabled interfered with the sound system.

    Have fun gaming!

Great that your issue is gone @WholisticRO

Playing BF2 with sound is much more immersive and enjoyable! Good luck and see you on the battlefront!
