Re: Error Code 524

For the OP if they haven't gotten through to support, or other people who also haven't, I was able to get through to someone in chat. What they told me was that my 11 year old son had an "under age account" and it was against the law for him to play online. I tried to explain that Microsoft has settings that allow me to let him play online, including other EA games like Apex, but he insisted that it was illegal. He also couldn't explain why this only effects Battlefront II and not another EA game like Apex. Hopefully this saves someone else some time.

  • Throwing in comments like "It's illegal" is their get out clause here. Whats illegal about it? The online aspect? Well then why can they access other online games, including many other EA titles. What is the difference between playing Battlefront 2 online and playing Plants vs Zombies online? Both games are shooting each other up, both are EA titles. One allows my son online, the other doesn't.

Very frustrating and it would appear i'm far from alone in having this issue. Today was my sons birthday and i've spent hours trying to resolve this issue for him, being in lockdown he wanted to play online with his friends, they can all play online but he can't. My guess is that they aren't tethered to a Family account the way he is. By that, I mean that he is in the Family group. He has his own Xbox live account which is seperate from mine, he has no age restrictions placed on his microsoft settings - so why are EA not allowing him online in Battlefront 2, but will allow it for other similar games. Clearly legality can't be the issue here.

I'm running into the same issue. Similar to previous respondents: my son turned 11, all he wanted was an XBox to play with his friends online, so he got the console and a year-long XBox Live Gold account for being a good kid. It took hours to set up the accounts, which was frustrating enough because he was anxious to play. And then at the end of it we find this message telling us he can't play online, and no clear path to resolution.

    Very frustrating.

  • I agree this is really out of line here. My son just spent his birthday money on this game so me and him can just play some co op together re-enacting his favourite star wars moments but it can't happen because his account is too young. Very disappointed with the mechanism they have used here, it's just very frustrating to spend hours researching to find there's no solution here.

  • I'm over 18 i got error 524 locked out of multiplayer cant change it Customer service was no help   felt like i been ripped off spent 2 hours trying to get star was squadron online to no avail avoid EA games AT all cost !!!!!
