Re: Sims 4 not responding when cc is installed after EA app switch

@xrayna

EA App and Origin have no bearing at all on Mods.

Move your Mods folder to the desktop or rename it. Trash the localthumbcache.package file then launch the game. Does it successfully load and can you play without any of the Mods? From what you've described yes but please do these steps. Don't save but simply quit the game. Let me know how you get on.

    Good to note. When I remove all mods everything launches just fine. I've tried the 50/50 method down to putting just one file in my mods folder and regardless of which file it is, it stops the game from responding.

    I don’t know who Harrie is. Please humour me and try a piece of Peacy’s CC as from personal experience I know it works. You haven’t added any files from your usual Sims 4 folder to the new one the game has created have you?

    @Bluebellflora No worries, Harrie is (at least what i consider) another reputable trusted CC created who's collabed with the sims, so I gave them a shot. I've been placing only 1 cc file into my empty mods folder at a time to test. I downloaded one of peace's recent build sets and my game successfully launched, I then quit and did another test by placing the same "broken" harrie cc I had previously put in and it worked. I noticed it converting from an icloud file to not having the cloud beside it when the game finally launched. Could converting icloud documents slow the game launch and cause it to not respond? That may have been my problem all along and not the CC itself.

    Yep, that will be the cause which is why I wanted you to download and add new CC that wasn’t on your Mac already. The cloud icon isn’t converting anything, it is syncing your Documents folder to the cloud when you make changes. You need to disable iCloud Drive syncing your Desktop and Documents folders https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mac/READ-FIRST-Saves-CC-Mods-or-Library-items-disappeared-iCloud/m-p/10242133

    The reason this happened after updating to EA App isn’t the actual app but probably because of storage on your Mac.
