Re: Can’t gather enough supplies to build the costume department
You need to increase your storage.
Use the big green button that say "increase storage", I can see it on your picture
I do not have the Movie Studio yet but I have upgraded the Police Station to 100%
From what I can see you need at least a storage of 1,150 (number of items required to unlock the most resource intense room), though I would recommend going up to a storage of 2,000-3,000, so you can work on getting resources for multiple rooms simultaneous. The comfortable limit for the Police Station was a storage of 4,000 - that gave me enough room for the 1,840 items needed for the two top rooms (1,840x2=3,680) and a little extra
For now, all your movie coins should got to increase storage, not buying the resources you need, that can wait until your storage is at a comfortable level
While building your workplace, do not do use any resources on the Sim Town market events (they will be back) also know that the courier/UPS guy counts as a VIP
It is costly to increase the storage but it needs to be done
Do as many active shifts as you can, as every help you give will be rewarded with coins, complete the shifts early to get bonus coins and resources.
Have 4 sims dedicated to the Movie studio, two special and two that can gather resources and coins without having to work on badges
when your specialist sims ends their shifts, make sue no lingering customer needs a specialist, so the others can be as effective as possible
It is hard to unlock and upgrade the professional workplaces and it takes a lot of time, that is why I have not started another.
I did use a lot of LPs to get the badges and finished shifts for my specialized sims and do not send them on active shifts anymore since they've reached the top of their professions, the last gathering of resources to upgrade the rooms were done by unspecialized sims.
You can "get rid of" what you do not need. Tap the resource you do not want, while in the storage, and you can sell the items to get simoleons
I would not recommend this for you at this moment, while you're building the workplace (I'd rather see you increase your storage) but it is an option.
Good luck
