Re: Menu bar MacBook

@aileenvandijkxx  Is the Origin menu showing at the top, or something else?  If you switch back to Origin and minimize it, does that make a difference?  Please also try changing the in-game resolution; you may need to switch to windowed mode and back to fullscreen to get the full effect.

  • The MacBook menu is showing at the top, so the menu you get when you open an internet page for instance (with the name of the page and the buttons to close or minimize). I switched modes, and it’s better in windowed mode because I can see everything in the screen, but that’s not how I prefer to play the game.
I did not have this issue before I updated origin. Also switching game resolutions doesn’t make any difference. Have to do that every game because the screen is always stretchted when opening the game in full screen.

@aileenvandijkxx  When you're playing, is Origin staying minimized?  You can check by putting the game in windowed mode and minimizing it; either the Origin window will also be sitting in the dock, or it'll be behind the screen, in which case please try minimizing it to see whether it helps.  Please also try changing Origin's resolution, which you can do through View > Zoom in the Origin menu.

I'm not sure whether this is due to something on your computer or just Origin being difficult.  I don't have an M1 Mac, but I know someone who does, so I'll ask whether she's noticed the same thing when I get a chance, and I'll test on an Intel Mac as well.

  • Changing the origin's resolution fixed the problem with the in-game solution. But I still have the menu balk on top of the game. Only when playing in full screen it's hiding my sims' taskbar. Don't know how to fix this..

Most annoying thing is that I can't cancel actions. So for instance my Sim can only sleep as long as she needs to, but I can't stop it in-between.

@aileenvandijkxx  Do you have a custom resolution set on your Mac?  You can check under About This Mac > Displays > Display Preferences.  If the resolution is set as "Scaled," try setting it to "Default for display."

If you're using any other accessibility settings or apps, please try disabling those.  Alternately, you could create a new admin user account on your Mac and use default settings there so you wouldn't need to redo the configuration in your main account.

  • Yes I had, but already did a reset yesterday. That does fix the fullscreen stretch in combination with the origin resolution, but when playing in windowed mode (my only option at the moment) the screen stays smaller than my screen, so have to pull it a bit wider. Still better than not being able to cancel actions tho.

I really think it has something to do with the Mac OS update to Monterey
