Re: Constant press

@oggyone06 Honestly, pressing is not as good as you are making it seem. Perhaps in the lower divisions, it is exploitable, but the more elite players have strayed away from 71 depth because of its lack of defense.

I've seen many going back to a more balanced depth and playing through the middle.

I do agree that pressing can be infuriating at times, but that is moreso the responsibility of the player to learn how to counter it and or punish players who use it.

This year, the gameplay feels a lot more manual -- defending separating the elite to the rest.

@Izzy_FUT_Dubs Pressing is currently unbalanced right now due to the combination of crazy recovery speed, iffy lofted pass mechanics, and slow touches from said passes. Also, left stick dribbling can be weirdly unresponsive in those situations (maybe a composure thing ?). It’s certainly beatable, but for the majority of the player base it’s effective or people would’ve abandoned it. I’m not a pro or elite player so I don’t know what goes on in those circles, but as someone who’s played matches from Div 6-3 for the last 8 weeks or so, I’d say 80% of players still use 71 depth.

If you have average internet or just a poor connection to servers in general, everything gets very sluggish like dribbling and passing which also exacerbates the issue.

Hopefully, some of the proposed adjustments make it less effective. I’m expecting it will if you’re able to actually pass through the middle a little easier.

I actually disagree with gameplay feeling more manual. In fact, I think it’s the complete opposite which is part of the reason why 71 depth was so effective. With one exception! If you’re good at manual switching with the way the AI plays (at times), you can defend really well. I tend to play more manual and I can’t use manual switching reliably so how well I do defensively comes down to a lot of factors which can make the game frustratingly inconsistent for me.

When the L1 switch works well for me and latency is suitable, I can play at whatever level and only concede a goal or 2..sometimes even get clean sheets.

I’m personally interested now in seeing if improving my internet will improve my gameplay and how much. I get anywhere from 25-45 ping in the pre-match screen. I also sure it spikes and settles in game.

@Izzy_FUT_Dubs Couldn't disagree more with this. I've played every fifa since Fifa 98, I've played Ultimate team probably for about 5 or 6 years now, and this game is without doubt the most automated game i've ever played

I've spent the first few seasons in Elite Div and i'm currently sat in Div 1 (Can't even be bothered trying to grind to elite) and literally EVERYONE in Div 1 especially uses automated defending. Games are decided by whatever random nonsense gets thrown at you. 70 strength players constantly bodying 95 strength players, pace matchups that make absolutely no sense, non stop bouncebacks every time you make a tackle, both players can have the same goalkeeper and one will let in shots straight at them while the other is like superman in goal, trivelas from absurd angles flying over a keeper who just stands and watches it, everyone abusing bugged routines at corners.

Some games your players will be reactive to everything you press and they'll move at superspeed, others they'll literally stand still when you try to move, the ball will cannon off them when intercepting or trying to control simple passes, right stick switching feels completely different every game etc...

Honestly, i've never been more disappointed by a video game in my life. It feels like everything within this game from the packs, the promos and the gameplay, are geared towards getting people to buy fifa points to get the most overpowered team they can, and then letting the AI do 90% of the work for them
