Re: Origin installed, will not install sims 4...

@Melantic

This problem has been tricky for us to figure out. If you're willing to help us diagnose why this is happening, please follow these steps:

  1. Open Origin
  2. Select "Origin Error Reporter" from the Help menu bar option.

or, if your Origin application won't launch:

  1. Locate your Origin installation directory (probably C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin).
  2. Run OriginER.exe.

- For 'Type of Error', select "Installing Games from Discs"

- Leave 'Customer Support Ticket Number' blank.

- In the text box, you can just write something like "Can't install from discs"

- Check the box if you agree (you can read what information we will collect here http://download.dm.origin.com/oer/en_US.html)

- Click "Send Report"

- Once the report finishes, copy your Report ID and paste it into a reply to this message so that we can investigate your report immediately.

Could you also let us know if you're running any type of anti-virus program or other anti-malware software?

Possible solution: One thing we've heard that has helped some users resolve this specific problem is to uninstall the current version of Origin, and then re-install it using this version: https://download.dm.origin.com/origin/live/OriginSetup.exe

    I figured it out!

    You need to get into the CD by right clicking and opening in a new folder. Then you need to run setup as an administrator. This worked for me and the game installed and is working fine, so hopefully it might fix the problem for some of you guys as well 🙂

  • I have found a solution for my problem...

    I have changed the hard drive letter from the drive origin was on a few weeks ago. So I installed the new version of origin over it and now it works.

    Hi everyone;

    I had the same problem. I uninstalled Origin and re-installed back again and it worked fine. I hope this would help.

  • Hey guys,

    I fixed the problem for myself - I uninstalled Origin, and instead of reinstalling Origin from the CD, I downloaded it from the the website - https://www.origin.com/en-au/download

    I then logged into Origin, and put the Sims 4 CD back in, and it's installing now 🙂

    I think maybe there's a problem with the version of Origin that's installed on the CD...?

    Hope this helps someone else too!

    (ps. if the game is open in Origin and it says 'copying' then it's installing it from the CD... If it says 'downloading' then it's, well, downloading it)

    I tried this and it still didn't help. However I opened Origin and was able to install the Sims 4 by clicking the Origin button in the top left corner and  selecting Redeem Product code. This took me to a page on which I entered my code and was then able to download the Sims 4. Hope this  helps anyne else who was still struggling with this issue.
