Sims 4 Electronic Arts folder missing and error message at startup (solved)
solved the problem- my windows defender was blocking any applications from starting up, so I disabled that option and the game was able to start. I had also taken ownership of my documents folder by right clicking it>properties>security>add User permissions.

Sims 4 wont run and one problem after another keeps forming. Please help! I'm unsure what to do anymore, but I'll run through my process of everything I've done up until now.
I've been able to successfully play the Sims 4 for about a month. I added expansion packs and even a few mods and it played just fine. Then, after a few weeks of not playing the game I decided to to play it again. Upon running the game, an error message popped up:
"Unable to start, initialization error at startup: 135dec40: ect ect.."
I followed directions I found online, which was to uninstall Origin and reinstall it since this seemed to be an Origin problem, not The Sims. After taking off Origin and reinstalling it, the problem persisted.
Next I clicked "repair" on the game, and as it began to scan and attempt to repair, a separate screen came up saying Origin needed me to allow permission to allow change. It said that a separate message box would appear and prompt be to allow the change, yet that message box never appeared. I even went to my UAC settings and changed it so that a notification message would pop up every time a change was prompted, but even then that message box never showed up. Due to the repair not being able to make changes the entire process cancelled itself.
I decided my next step would be to uninstall the sims 4 and reinstall it. 5+ hours later the game installed successfully. I thought it was weird it never made a desktop icon even though I clicked allow "pin to desktop", so I started up origin and clicked 'play' there. Then this message came up:
"Unable to start:
Sims 4 Is already running
[ed35e0ea:29f00e76:00000000:18a1dd51] "
TS4 wasn't running in my task manager, I made sure to check.
I was both disappointed and frustrated but nonetheless; I went online to look for answers. Many people said to take control of the Electronic Arts folder and allow sharing by right clicking on the EA folder and going to 'properties'. I went to do that and that's when I discovered that my Electronics Arts folder was empty! Luckily I made a copy of my Sims 4 folder before I uninstalled it and decided to test if dragging my old "The sims 4" folder (which had every original file) inside of it so the EA folder was no longer empty. I even attempted to allow permissions sharing with the EA folder and clicked ok once it was done.
I went to run the game yet once again the same message came up "unable to start, sims 4 is already running"
I'm not sure what to do anymore. I suspect that something else is going on with my laptop that's preventing the game from running.
In the past few weeks I've had to take permission to take control of my entire C drive because I had access denial to my own files (I am the only account and admin on my laptop too). I've also had a windows 10 update since around the same time. Even after all those new changes I was still able to play the sims, so I don't understand what could have changed in the following week or two that I stopped playing. It's possible that some folder I'm unaware of is still getting access denial, but I'm unsure.
I would appreciate any help I could get. How can I fix the missing Electronic Art folder and allow the Sims 4 error message to be fixed?

Thank you for your reply, I was able to find the solution!
The major thing preventing me from running the game was Windows Defender. It was blocking any applications from running. I'm unsure how it got enabled, but I disabled that option. I also was successfully able to take user control over my Documents folder. Apparently I had mixed up "sharing" with the permissions option under the 'security' tag.
Those two things did the trick, and my EA folder was able to fill itself after starting the game. I was even able to get my old save files back. I was very scared I had lost everything and wouldn't be able to play the game, so I am relieved to get this problem sorted out!
Once again, thank you for your prompt response and you time. I really appreciate it
