Sims 4 full game glitch. Cannot select anything

Step 1. Move The Sims4 folder to the desktop
Step 2. Fix the game in Origin
Origin/ My games library - right-click on TS4 - option "Repair game"
You have to wait until Origin will fix all packs, not only the base game.
Step 3. Turn on the game - a new game folder will be created and you will have two - one old on the desktop and one new
Step 4. Check if you still have this problem in the newly created game folder. Start a new game with random sims and play by 5 minutes.
If the problem disappeared
Step 5. Delete in the new game folder following folders:
"saves" and Tray.
Step 6. Go to "The Sims 4" old folder and copy - your "saves " folder.
Step. 7. Paste this folder in a newly created game folder.
Step 8. Do the same with Tray folder and TrayDeleteItems file
Step 9. Check if there are newly updated version mods you are using.
Then copy and paste your mods and CC from the old mods folder to the new one. First copy the scripts mods every time checking if the game is working properly. If you have a lot of CC try 50/50 method ( divide your CC into smaller batches for example 50 pieces in one subfolder and check these subfolders one by one)
Step. 10. Launch the game and check if this problem disappeared.
The last step - delete The Sims4 folder from the desktop
Your saves and library will be not changed or damaged

hello! thanks for the tip. i did everything you instructed, however this glitch is still not going away, i no longer use mods now as i don't see the point if they no longer work. however this glitch of not selecting things (like in cas - cant scroll, wont let me select and change features, items of clothing etc) hasn't gone. also on the start screen, where it says the play button, new game, and load game - i can select the play button and new game, but not load game as it does the same thing there. i dont know what else to do as i have followed your advice. do you know what else i should do? thank you! i'll attach a video below of what I mean.

I posted in another topic about having problems with my sims 4 game, to be clear i do not have mods in my game

I got rid of them a while back as they were causing too many problems.

I followed some instructions from a fellow member on here and found unfortunately it hasn't worked (i did it all down to a t, double checked i did everything correctly) 

the issue i keep having is a particular glitch which wont let me select items in cas (my mouse arrow will skim over but it glitches and i cant click on one side of items on the screen etc), click "load game" button, or even options with my sim as i am playing the game. i shall attach a video below. 

I have also noticed a new problem which is the gallery is incredibly slow.

it takes ages to load my profile, sims, other peoples creations, and will not allow me to download them.

it keeps saying "unable to locate [item/sim/lot] etc. and I'm getting to a point of feeling very fed up as i just have no end of problems. 

I feel i cannot enjoy this game anymore as i cant even play it without it throwing a hissy fit.

i have tried uninstalling/reinstalling, moving my old sims 4 folder to desktop, repairing the game and starting afresh.

i am unsure about if this glitch is due to a patch update or not, but its been like this on and off for the last few months. one minute the game works fine, the next it acts up like it is now.

if there is another way to fix the game please let me know.

**edit** - i now have to repair the game every single time before playing it so it works properly, which shouldn't be happening. and gallery is still not working.

Thank you so much, after disabling origin in game and windows notifications, gallery is working fine. Also got the legacy addition so it supports the laptop I'm on! However the whole clicking/not selecting glitch is still there. Any ideas on how to solve that?
