Re: Sims 4 not working on Windows 11

@Eunila  Why did you install Windows 11 on this computer?  It doesn't support it, and in fact I'm surprised it even took to Windows 10, given how old it is.  I would suggest reverting to 10, or even 8.1, since Dell only ever offered drivers for this laptop for XP through 8.

Your immediate issue though is the very little installed RAM and very small page file size.  I can't say for sure that this is the cause of Sims 4 crashing because the dxdiag doesn't list any Windows errors, itself a bad sign.  But I do know that such a small memory space is not compatible with the game these days.

Here's how to increase the page file size (option three):

I would suggest 8192 as the minimum and 16384 as the maximum.  Restart your computer after changing the values and before doing anything else.  Keep in mind that the page file and its settings will be wiped if you reinstall the operating system (any version), so the change wouldn't stick.  But you also might not need to reapply it because the new OS might allow for a larger page file as necessary.

I can't promise you that this will help with Sims 4.  Between running an OS that doesn't support your hardware and the hardware itself being so old, the game might never work on this configuration.  But there's no harm in trying.

I played sims smoothly before my uncle installed windows 11 in my laptop and I have no idea how to revert it huhu

  • @Eunila  If Windows 11 was installed in the last ten days, you could roll back to 10 easily enough:

Otherwise, you'd need to wipe the computer and install a fresh copy of Windows 10.  And to be clear, 11 does not support your hardware or anything like it.  Your laptop has a 2nd-gen Intel processor, and the oldest processors Windows 11 supports are 8th-gen Intel, with one exception.  This isn't going to change, and you may continue to have issues both with Sims 4 and in general use.

I can't promise that going back to Windows 10 will fix anything, and if you'd prefer, you can try increasing the computer's page file size first.  I just want to be clear that this laptop shouldn't be running Windows 11 at all.  It's your choice what to do with that information.
