Playing sims 4

I have a choose between two laptops which are Flex 15 81SR000DUS and Pavilion 17-cd0020nr gaming laptop.

The specs for flex 5 is

  • 1.8GHz eighth-generation Intel Core i7-8565U quad-core processor, up to 4.6GHz
  • 15.6" diagonal Full HD touchscreen display with 1920x1080 resolution, IPS technology
  • 16GB RAM
  • 512GB solid-state drive
  • NVIDIA GeForce MX230 graphic

The specs for pavilion 17 is

  • 2.4GHz Intel Core i5-9300H quad-core processor with 8MB cache, up to 4.1GHz with Turbo Boost Technology
  • 17.3" diagonal anti-glare WLED-backlit Full HD display with 1920x1080 resolution, IPS technology
  • 8GB DDR4 RAM
  • 256GB PCIe NVMe M.2 solid-state drive
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics with 4GB GDDR5 dedicated RAM

Which is better for playing sims 4

  • @jenehra  The second laptop is definitely better for Sims 4.  The single biggest factor in how a computer will run the game is its graphics card, and an Nvidia 1650 is much stronger than an MX230.  This is the difference between using medium-high graphics settings and running all packs on ultra.

Having said that, the second one does have a couple of small drawbacks.  The first is that it only has 8 GB memory.  That's more than enough for Sims 4 and Windows, but it might be nice to have 16 GB for multitasking.  Still, you could buy a matching RAM stick for maybe $40-50 and install it yourself (U.S, dollars; prices may be comparatively higher in other countries), or take the laptop to any computer store and have them do it for you.

The other issue is that 256 GB of storage isn't a whole lot.  Again, it's enough for Windows, Sims 4, and your saves, but if you planned on installing other games or storing other data (music, photos, etc.), you'd run out of space quickly.  You may be able to add a second internal hard drive to this model (a 1 TB HDD costs less than $50), but I'd need the exact model number to be sure, or you could contact the seller for more information.  But you could of course use an external hard drive for storage as well.

Still, the second laptop will run Sims 4 much better than the first.  Aside from the graphics card, the first laptop likely doesn't have the proper cooling to handle the demands of Sims 4, and you'd need to be careful it didn't overheat while you were playing.
