Re: EA App won't install 4/26 update, can't launch game

Why is my Sims 4 game in an endless loop of updating to the newest version? It's been this way for three days now, but i'll explain from the beginning. If anyone has any advice that would be amazing as i'm genuinely at a loss of what i'm meant to do.

I was aware that my Sims game was due a new update, mainly a few bug fixes, a standard patch update that from the last one would've only taken about 3 minutes to download. I recently bought a new laptop (just under a month ago) so when i set it up i had to go through the whole thing of installing the new EA app and the multitude of updates i'd missed over the five months i'd not been active on game. The reason i'm saying this is because they'd all installed in a breeze,  and took less than 10 minutes to update to the most recent version of the game. So, i loaded up my laptop, opened the EA app, clicked update and it was finished pretty sharpish. I was ready to launch the game when i noticed a little 'update required' under the game name. I thought i must've missed the news to another update and clicked update. It began from 77% of 'Finalizing' and i just assume that it mustn't have updated properly. When it got to 99% i saw the little 'The Sims 4 is ready to go' notification, and i clicked launch, only for it to say again that it required an update. Determined to play that day i kept going for a good ten minutes before i gave up with a huff and decided to restart my PC, thought 'that'll do it' and went through it all again for another ten minutes. I scoured every corner of the internet and found others were having the same issue. Great, i thought! Some other people may have a solution. I clicked on it and was shocked to find people were having this issue with the Origin app well over two years ago. As i searched game specific only Sims 4 gamers came up, but if anyone else is having this issue with other games and their updates let me know. All the suggestions were to clear the origin cache, un and then re-install the origin app etc. but seeing as it's all updated and on the new app (and as everyone who did this with the older app said it took a while to find what worked/what didn't) i can't do any of those things anyway.

Does anyone else have any stories of this with the new EA app, suggestions on how to stop it, or places i can go that might have the answer? I'd really love any advice i can get right now.

@squirtleofturtle and @mamajaefae  I've merged your posts with the master thread for this issue.  Please try the suggestions in post 12.

@Starbabe820  Are you saying that the EA App thought Sims 4 was properly updated, allowing you to play; and now it says the game is not updated?  Does repairing help?  If not, what about the suggestions in post 12?

  • Thanks so much for the adivce! Clearing the cache from the app seems to be working for now, i'm gonna go on to the game and make sure it's still working and then i'll keep going back everyday for a few days to make sure it's still doing what its meant to! Thank You!
