Re: After linking EPIC games and EA app game will not launch

@kakeguruialex  Please do a clean uninstall and reinstall of Sims 4 with Revo Uninstaller:

  • Put aside your Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts and rename it to something that doesn't include the words "Sims 4."
  • Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
  • Launch Revo, select Sims 4 from the list, and click Uninstall.
  • Once the game is uninstalled, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
  • Review the list, in case there's something you want to save; otherwise, click Select All, and then Delete.
  • Close Revo, and restart your computer.

It's worth using Revo to uninstall and reinstall the EA App as well.  Then reinstall the App, restart your computer, and reinstall Sims 4 through the app of your choice.  If you install through the EA App, you may need to launch the game through Epic once; there's a thread about this issue here:

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports-Technical-Issues/Sims-launching-through-Epic-instead-of-EA-app/m-p/12547957#M27250

After that, it looks like you should be able to use the EA App without Epic.

    Thanks! This worked.

I did want to mention though I DID manage to get the game to open last night after pulling the game kit for jungle adventure out of the game files and putting it on the desk top. It is GP06 if anyone else has this issue. I then signed out of both Epic and EA and unlinked the accounts. Then, I restarted my computer. I replaced the GP06 file. And started Epic launcher. I clicked on the launch game from there. Epic opened EA and asked to link accounts again. Once I did that it started the game immediately.

It is NOT a fix as when I turned on the computer today I still couldn’t launch the game.

I had the same problem and I tried to uninstall everything and reinstall again. So I reinstalled EA App and Epic Games Launcher as well, I reinstalled whole game with all DLCs (twice bc on first try I didn't whant to install Epic Games but my computer was asking for it so I gave up) After all this I restarted computer and put my saves and tray file back in and game launched although I have to redo all my settings. I hope it will work permamantly.

  • same lol but like i really wanna try out the packs and see my new cc but i actuallly regret downloading the app

@AL_GAL_YAL  If you rename the Sims 4 user folder, as described in the first step, then Revo won't delete it and your saves will be intact.  But go ahead and make a backup anyway; it's always good to have one.

When you say put aside and rename the sims 4 folder, do you mean take it out of the electronic arts folder?

@kezt6zjvz7ns  I don't know enough about the Epic launcher to know whether it causes the kinds of problems that might be helped by uninstalling.  But if you don't own any other Epic games, then sure, it won't hurt and might be useful.

@mintiesummer  Yes, move the Sims 4 folder out of the Electronic Arts folder and rename it to something that doesn't include "Sims 4."

I had the same issue, just click the sims 4 actual app icon and your sims should launch with the packs you have downloaded even if the ea app only opens the epic games launcher.

  • This was the worst * advice I’ve taken from anybody ever. All of my save files that I’ve had for years and have played through for years were all erased. I’ve been in tears for hours. But I felt like I had no other choice but to take this * * advice because ea and epic games doesn’t seem to solve anything without taking several years to do it. All the money I’ve spent and hours I’ve played was to no gain, sure I can launch the game but why would I even play if nothing that I’ve spent year doing is there anymore?? I’ve never felt so defeated and angry

  • Yeah. His advice completely ruined my entire my game. I don’t have a single save file from my years of playing

@Silasthewarrior0  If you haven't restored the Sims 4 folder that was previously in Documents > Electronic Arts (and that you renamed), then your saves wouldn't show up in-game.  But the saves and everything else should still be intact in that folder.

The only reasons your saves would have been permanently deleted are if you didn't do that first step of moving and renaming the Sims 4 folder or if you accidentally deleted it some other way.

  • the was the first thing I did. I moved the file out of electronic arts and renamed it. When everything was done I replaced it back into the electronic arts folder and deleted the redownloaded version that had nothing on it. And it did absolutely nothing to save my game
