Re: steam and ea

@quotidi  Does it help to run Steam and the EA App as an admin (right-click each shortcut and select "Run as administrator") before trying to open Sims 4?  If not, have you made sure your Steam and EA accounts are properly linked and there's no problem on that end?  The fastest way to do so is to go to any EA site (ea.com works), click the sign in button, then the Steam logo.  If the accounts are linked, you'll land in the correct EA account; if you get an error, let me know.

Please also be aware that the EA App had an outage a few hours ago that has since been resolved.

Nope, getting the same message, unfortunately -

'the servers took too long to do their server thing. Make sure you're connected to the internet, and try again.' is it word for word. Have been getting that error message since I downloaded Sims onto steam again and not EA app.

@quotidi  Try clearing the EA App's cache, then uninstalling it, restarting your computer, and reinstalling.

    https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/

And to be clear, does the EA App appear to load properly, but only launching Sims 4 from Steam triggers that error?  Or are you seeing other issues with the EA App too?

Please also let me know what happens when you try to sign into an EA site with your Steam credentials.

@puzzlezaddict tried that twice, both times unsuccessful :/
the EA app does load, and at first I tried to play Sims on EA app, though as previously mentioned I couldn't access my DLCs, which despite being a flaw I believe isn't an actual bug/issue.

I've had other issues with the EA app in the past, but recently it's actually been working for me well, so I think this is a Steam-EA problem.

I've just tried to sign into the EA app with Steam credentials and it says 'You must be online when logging in for the first time.'
which is weird, because if it means Steam, I'm logged in and online, and if it means internet, I am also.. online?

@quotidi  Can you sign into ea.com with your Steam credentials?  I'm wondering whether there's a problem with the link between your accounts, or with the EA App validating that link.  Even if this is something that EA support has to help with (and we may or may not be at that point), it would be helpful to narrow things down.

@puzzlezaddictyep just done that, seemed to work fine. I should mention that steam seems to see the sims as running for a few seconds, though I might've already mentioned that.

I also then signed out of the EA app and signed in with steam, hoping to kinda force them to be linked, but it didn't work - I did get a different error message! it was 'encountered an unknown error' and told me to restart the app and try again. I did just that, then got the same error message as before.

(I should mention - thanks so much for all of the help, despite it not working you've been very kind)
