I did all the things you said, except installing to a different path.
It didn't change anything.
Thank you for your answer Puzzlezaddict 🙂@ElectronicAzs Do you see Sims 4 in your Epic account as an Epic-owned game? I understand you never tried to add it, but it's worth checking just to make sure it didn't get added for some other reason (a mis-click, a random offer, a button that looked like it was for viewing more info rather than redeeming... you get the picture). The facts that reinstalling didn't help and that having an EA Play subscription does help suggest that you might in fact have the Epic version on your account. And the EA App wouldn't necessarily make that clear.
@puzzlezaddict
I will try to reply to the things you wrote with the same order you wrote them;
When i search the game from my epic games library by typing 'The Sims 4' there is no result, like i never added it to my library (I just realized that btw)When i search it from the Epic store it shows the game as in my library (there is no get the game/purchase the game option)
Also it is always on quick launch panel as long as both EA and Epic launchers are open.
Reason of the game being in my Epic game library with details:
I remember adding it more than a year ago because there was a free promotion (this one on the reddit link)
reddit.com/r/Sims4/comments/13eweys/a_guide_to_the_recent_free_sims_4_expansions_on/
That is also the time i connected both accounts to each other because there was no other way to get that promotion.
As mentioned in the link these dlcs were free:
Game Pack: Jungle AdventureStuff Pack: Luxury Party
Kit: Fashion Street
I just added these to my epic account alongside base game but never installed these, including base game. Any Sims 4 related things i installed and played was always from EA app. You may think 'Maybe you own one or more of these packs you just mentioned ONLY through Epic and actually not purchased it from EA, this may be why EA opens Epic while launching the game' ...Yes, EA shows products from other clients but only allows to play content from 1 client, as far as i know you can't combine different content/dlc from different clients. (Example: I have 'My first pet stuff' through steam, when i click on Sims 4, then manage add-ons from EA app i can see that stuff pack in my library as a Steam product, it only shows me that i own it but does not allow me to install it or reach the content in any way, it just shows i own that product through steam. I can't see these packs in the same separate list, they are in the same installed content list with all of my other EA purchased dlcs)
Quoting: The facts that reinstalling didn't help and that having an EA Play subscription does help suggest that you might in fact have the Epic version on your account. >>
I think that can only happen if Epic and EA versions of the base game have exactly same files, including registry files....which sounds a bit weird and amateur-ish for 2 companies like Electronic Arts and Epic Games. When i think about such a possibility, i can't help but also think 'Only 2 newbie 1 person devs can do such a mistake and don't care about it for more than 2 years.
Again, thanks for your time and interest for my problem PuzzleHero, huggies 🙂- @puzzlezaddict
I thought about this a bit more and i realized there is another possibility. Maybe i am reaching these 3 dlcs i mentioned above through Epic games but there is an error and EA app shows them as i have them through EA and not saying 'Accessed through Epic' and also not showing me any option to purchase them from EA store.
I will send a message with EA error reporter and request from support to remove these 3 dlcs from my account. (They don't give anything i use in the game anyway)
Lets see what will happen. @ElectronicAzs The problem is (perhaps) a base game "entitlement" from Epic sitting on your EA account, not the packs and not which app you used to install the game. The idea here is that the Epic entitlement would overrule the EA App entitlement, unless you're using EA Play and therefore have the Digital Deluxe edition from EA. The DD is a higher version and so should win, so to speak. When the DD is not present, your account defaults to the Epic version and therefore tells you to play through Epic.
Point is, you may need to have the Epic base game entitlement removed from your account. You can usually do that by unlinking your accounts or by removing the game from your Epic account, if that's possible. Otherwise, you may need EA customer support to remove the entitlement.
Unlike with Steam, any DLC you own through Epic should be accessible through the EA App.
Wait right, if problem was that 3 dlcs i'd still have to open epic games client for launching sims 4 while having an active membership and launching DD edition. DD edition does not include any of that dlcs.
Quoting: .....by removing the game from your Epic account, if that's possible >> seems like this must be the first thing to try, you are right.
Quoting: Unlike with Steam, any DLC you own through Epic should be accessible through the EA App. >> So EA does not show/check dlcs owned through epic and allow them to run combined with theirs while running a game? :S
Well, the thing is i already sent a message through error reporter right after my previous message. I will send another message and show them this conversation we are having in here by giving a link. I hope they know what is causing the problem and know what to do about it :/@ElectronicAzs When you buy DLC from Epic, you can use it with an EA App install without going through the Epic client. Many players redeemed these free packs without having to use Epic going forward. (This is different than how Steam-owned content works.) The problem is the base game entitlement, not the packs.
For customer support, live chat is going to be a lot more helpful than email. If you don't see the option, try a different category of issue.
