An error on our end caused the launch to fail. Try again a little later

please just help me fix my sims 4 game man... ever since the August 19th update I've had more headaches and problems than anything, now it's an issue on your end.

hsock I am so sorry the Windows Insider wasn't your solution.  I hope that you did post the error id and your dxdiag. in that thread while they are gathering information to fix the error for everyone.  I understand the frustration you must be feeling and sincerely hope it can be resolved shortly for you.  I'm sorry that I can't be of more assistance to you.

  • hsock  As a test, please try playing in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop.  When you launch the game, if it launches, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you've moved but temporarily unread by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see how it runs.

If you still can't play, please provide a dxdiag.  Click Windows key-R, enter dxdiag in the run box, wait for the scan to finish, click "Save all information," and save the file to your desktop.  From there, you can attach it to a reply using the paper clip (Attachment) icon included with the other formatting buttons.

dolldrms1  There are other fixable causes of this error aside from the Windows insider preview.

  • hsock  The driver for your graphics chip is from 2021, and that may be the issue.  Please check the HP site for newer drivers first.  Go here:

    https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/laptops

Enter your serial number, choose your OS (just Windows 11 is fine) if prompted, click All Drivers, expand Driver-Graphics, and download the newest Intel driver by version number.  The first number matters most, e.g. 32 is newer than 31; after that, the last four numbers matter.  Your current version is 30.0.101.1191.

If you don't find a newer driver from HP, see whether you can install this one:

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/download/785597/intel-arc-iris-xe-graphics-windows.html

To be clear, it's compatible with your hardware, according to Intel, and Intel would know since it made the processor and graphics chip.  But sometimes HP laptops block the installation of drivers not provided by HP.  So if you get an error when trying to install it, try this workaround:

    https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000087660/graphics.html

If that doesn't help, are you deliberately running the game in DirectX 9 mode, and did you force it within the EA App or Steam?  If so, please remove the -dx9 command line argument and try again.  The clean user folder would have reset the in-game option to use DX9 mode, and the game should currently be defaulting to DX11 mode on your hardware, yet it's using DX9 mode according to the dxdiag.

In case someone ends up here instead; for me it was my Windows Firewall blocking the game
