Hey, so ive been having this problem with my origin account and sims 4 game where It won't let me open the game and is stuck "repairing" I tried to fix this problem by uninstalling my sims game, but its STILL "repairing" even though I don't have the game downloaded anymore. Its been stuck like this for a long time and when I try and re-download the sims I get a message saying "Origin is currently using that folder in another operation. Please try again later." I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling origin but nothing seems to work. Please help!
Before reinstalling Origin, rename the folder that contains the game's program files, which are located in Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 4. (You can just title it "The Sims 4 Old" or whatever you want.) Reinstall Origin and start the download for Sims 4, then pause it. This will create a new "The Sims 4" folder in the same location. Now you can copy the files from "The Sims 4 Old" into "The Sims 4" and resume the download.
The above is so you don't need to wait for the entire game to download again. If you have fast internet or don't mind waiting, or the above doesn't work, remove Sims 4 and Origin using Revo Uninstaller.
Put aside your Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts and rename it to something that doesn't include the words "Sims 4."
Download Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine) from here.
Launch Revo, select Sims 4 from the list, and click Uninstall.
Once the game is uninstalled, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
Review the list, in case there's something you want to save; otherwise, click Select All, and then Delete.
Close Revo, and restart your computer.
Next, uninstall Origin:
Quit Origin if it's still open, then right-click on the Task Bar and open the Task Manager. Scroll through looking for Origin entries. If you find any, click on them and End Task.
Launch Revo again and uninstall Origin, and when it's uninstalled, select "Moderate" again and Scan.
If Revo finds any remaining registry entries, select all, delete, and click Next.
Revo will display "Remaining Data and Folders. Select all of them except for the "Origin Games" folder, if it appears. (This is where other Origin games are installed by default.) Delete the rest.
Close Revo, and restart your computer.
Next, download the full Origin installer and run it. Here's the direct download link:
Be sure to run both the installer and Origin itself as an admin: right-click on each and select "Run as Administrator." When it's reinstalled, you can download Sims 4 again.
@puzzlezaddict thank u so much for this! I will give it a try, also do u have discord or something so u can talk my through how to do it? if not its all good
@Honorr68 I'm in a few Discord servers but don't do troubleshooting through private messages. (I'm also not online and responsive all that much.) If you get stuck on a specific step, feel free to ask, but I think the process becomes less complicated once you can see the files and folders right in front of you.
