Re: [CURRENT ISSUE] Sims 4 DLC shows as installed, won't load in-game

Hello,

When I tired to load my save today, I was greeted with a prompt stating that I am missing packs required to load the save. I have these packs installed, and they even appear under the "My Packs" section in-game, as well as under "manage game" in the EA App. The specific packs I have owned and installed are:

  • Werewolves
  • Seasons
  • Get Together
  • Get to Work
  • Get Famous
  • Eco Lifestyle
  • Cottage Living
  • City Living
  • Bonus Content(idk what that is honestly)

So far in my attempts to troubleshoot and resolve this issue, I have performed the following, often multiple times:

  • Restarting the game
  • Restarting the EA App
  • Restarting my PC
  • Clearing the cache in the EA App
  • Uninstalling the game and all packs, then re-installing
  • Repairing the game via the EA App
  • Deleting the Sims 4 folder in Documents and restoring a backup
  • Restoring only my save files in after a fresh install

I do use mods and CC, which would have me believe that is my issue, however my game and save were working perfectly fine prior to today, and I haven't updated or modified anything with the game since the last time I played, which was yesterday. On top of that, the issue still persists if I try and load my save without the mods and CC. I've tried EA Support, however they have only suggested that I try the things I've stated I already tried above. Has anyone else encountered something like this before, and have a possible solution? I have some screenshots attached to possibly better show the issue I am encountering.

The only other possible thing I can think of that could be causing an issue is that I did install and play The Sims 3 yesterday, however the install was clean and there are no conflicts as far as I am aware.

@Khfan61  I've merged your post with the master thread for this issue.  Please see the first post on page one.  If that doesn't help, please run the search that post describes for two or three missing packs and post the results here.  For example, Seasons is EP05 , and Get Together is EP02 .

There's no conflict between Sims 3 and 4.

Thank you. I ran the search, but it appears the files are in the correct locations. I have the screenshots attached showing the install location is the same as for what is set in the Sims 4 in the EA App. I know you say there's no conflict between Sims 3 and 4, however the expansion packs have the same naming structure, though they are of course installed in different locations.

@Khfan61  The issue the EA App has with installing packs into the wrong location only happens when the app finds multiple folders that contain program files and have "The Sims 4" in their name.  So even though Sims 3 has pack folders with the same names, that doesn't trigger any errors in the App.  Or at least I haven't seen any, and my own multiple computers with both games installed haven't seen this type of error for either game.

The folders do look like they're in the correct location.  I can ask someone from EA to take a look at your posts, but that won't happen until tomorrow at the earliest.  So if you'd like to keep troubleshooting in the interim, I'd suggest doing a clean uninstall and reinstall of Sims 4 and the EA App using Revo Uninstaller (the free version is fine).  Here's how:

    • Put aside your Sims 4 folder in Documents\Electronic Arts and rename it to something that doesn't include the words "Sims 4."
    • Download Revo from here.
    • Launch Revo, select Sims 4 from the list, and click Uninstall.
    • Once the game is uninstalled, select "Moderate" under "scanning modes," and click Scan.
    • Review the list, in case there's something you want to save; otherwise, click Select All, and then Delete.
    • Close Revo, and restart your computer.

Uninstall the EA App with Revo as well.  I don't have instructions for that at the moment, but the process should be straightforward.  Restart again when you're done.

Install the EA App, then create a new folder into which you'll install Sims 4 rather than installing it directly on X.  It should still be on the root level of the drive of your choice, so X:\Games, but not X:\Program Files\Games.

Let me know how it goes, and if it doesn't help (or I don't hear from you until tomorrow), I'll flag your posts to someone from EA.

It looks like completely nuking The Sims 4 and EA App with Revo did the trick! I was able to drop back in my mods/CC and saves, and the save loaded up and recognized I had the correct packs. I also set the new install location as one folder deep as opposed to the root directory. I'm thinking that may have been the issue, but it's strange that it would happen after having already played with the packs, and since I've never had an issue with other games I have installed in the root directory. Either way thank you for your help, I very much appreciate it.
