Re: Gifting DLC codes

@scotjess  I don't know of any place to buy codes you can use in Steam, at least not for Sims 4.  I do know that a code for the EA App version of some DLC won't work in Steam, so that's out unless your brother wants a mixed install.  (This is fine, it's easy to set up, but perhaps he doesn't want the minor extra hassle.)

From what I've seen, Steam doesn't allow gifting content from one region to another; it might be possible within a single region or between two countries whose respective prices are roughly equal.  Here's Steam's somewhat opaque article on the subject:

If you can't gift the DLC to your brother directly, you should at least be able to send a Steam gift card that covers the purchase.

It's not relevant to the brother playing through Steam, but for the one who owns Sims 4 in the EA App, he could technically use a code purchased anywhere.  However, some regions offer a language-locked version of Sims 4, including England, which receives the English-only version.  A pack from one of these regions can overwrite the language options of the base game, i.e. if your brother registered an English-only DLC, he might find that he could only play in English going forward.  So for him at least, you'll want to keep buying from Amazon France or Germany or another Northern or Western European country that's not England.

Steam only offers the global version of Sims 4, no language locks.

Thank you @puzzlezaddict that clarifies a lot.

I'll try to get my wee brother to use EA app. If not, I'll give him a gift card (which I find not as fun).
