Ehhhh no it's not.
Comparing it BF was pretty accurate actually, it feels more tactical to play than previous cod games.
Most of the maps suck though which is my only real negative feedback about the game.

Reread my main post.. - @hhnbbfggty66 have you considered Fortnite? it's actually quiet fun and for beginners, it pits you against literal AI Bots with a mix of real players who also started.
MW is fun with all the customization options and could be a nice alternative to Apex for now. - @iBlockHead I played Fornite, U easily slaughter but hate the build aspect of it. I can easily kill the sweats until they start building the gets stupid.

MW is nothing like Apex in my opinion. They serve different niche's.
When it comes to talking about BF, MW, and APEX. Forstbite engine has the best gunplay compared to the engines of MW and Apex hands down. Not even close in that regard.
MW has always been closer to Counter-Strike to me than BF. It just isn't my kind of game and feels limited compared to what you can do in BF. So many roles to fill, vehicles and weapons to master. It scratches my variety is the spice of life itch all in one game.
Apex is the best Battle Royal for me without question. I will be sad to leave it after I complete my last level of this seasons Battle Pass but it must be done. Modern Warfare is ok, but it is in the beginning especially now an up hill battle. You are going to play against people with alot better loadouts since they have been ranking up since launch. Just like any other COD, if you don't play from launch you will be at a disadvantage.
The one thing I have taken away from my breaks from Apex is how smooth Apex is over any other title in it's gameplay, gunfights and animations. When server issues are not a problem Apex pretty much outshines them all.
Unfortunately only you can decide if MW is for you though. And since you have to pay for it there is a downside if you don't like it you wasted money. From my perspective I buy COD games on the off chance it wil be good enough to hook me in, but I haven't been hooked since WW2 and honestly the developer in that game was similar to Respawn and Apex. Slow moving and content was very long in between releases with glitches and patches not being addressed.
I would suggest watching some youtube or twitch streams of non pros playing to see if the mechanics and the feel of the game match what your expectations are.
As far as squad based, even in ground war you can solo sneak around and get kills and have fun without too much trouble. Just watch out for killstreak specials.
I have enjoyed playing MW and will keep playing it more as Apex is becoming a less favorite game to go to.I am always willing to risk dropping some cash on a game I might be interested in, and if it is free to play I will drop money into it to support it as well.
As far as any other games out there I haven't seen any that trip my trigger finger as of yet. It looked like there might be an influx of new games late January-Mid February(PS4), not sure what platform you are on.
Anyways good luck hope you find something that fits that niche for you.Who knows maybe they will introduce solos back into Apex. I needed a good laugh.
@hhnbbfggty66 your OP was considerably shorter when i started to respond.
Yes its fun, no its not futuristic, no you don't need a party full of sweats to play it.
The battle pass sucks don't buy it.
Basically if you want a traditional FPS that is updated regularly, quick on issue fixes and fun to play then modern warfare is the game for you.
And running off mastiffslingers review, it won't be an uphill battle as long as you can shoot straight, the starter weapons are still decent.
Happy now? 😛

MW is fun with all the customization options and could be a nice alternative to Apex for now.I didn't take too long before I began facing Timmy Tryhards tho, it's worth mentioning that Fortnite is very hard to be good at, even just getting keybinds set up that work for you is a pain.
A mouse with programmable buttons is highly recommended.
The learning curve in Fortnite is very steep.

Fortnite is easy if you know how to gun fight.
I only die when I ambushed by full squads, or op weapons like the grenade launcher or lightsaber. The building aspect makes me quit because I refuse to build, building is cowardly. - @hhnbbfggty66 Excuse me? What did I say that was immature?

Always someone with a lightsaber or snowball launcher. Actually so fed up with those things.
