Re: Apex freeze 100% CPU Usage

Still same problem here. Very stable overclock off i7 8700k@4.8Ghz and last time I played on Thursday last week for several hours and no problems (or ever before). Today logged in for the new event and I was able to finish exactly one game. I play every competitive game on very low so it is usually CPU bound and stressing the CPU really hard and never ever had any problem. After this patch is the game is literally unplayable (I'm not meme-ing)

  • Yep still the same problem, even did a fresh install of windows, fully updated all my drivers.. even tried playing with explorer.exe closed, I can always tell when its about to freeze up, because the sound will get all buggy, like for instance gunshot sounds will not register, as soon as that happens I tell everyone im about to freeze up, then the only thing I can do is spam ctrl+alt+del alt f4. shift tab, shift enter, and just keep spamming them until one of them works and It can recover, then when I am able to go back into the game, its usually broken, and I can run around a bit and everyone else is frozen in place, then a few seconds later it kicks me from the game for code.net error, never had any issues with apex before, even when the majority of people were having issues mine always ran fine. pretty much happens every game over 3 minutes, and is completely random, I have tried multiple things. tired of spending days trying to fix this issue.

    Hey guys,

Can you try following just to test as this will reduce your FPS, this isn't a permanent fix. 😳

Forcing Origin / Apex Legends to use fewer cores
People in the Apex Legends discord are confirming reducing the available cores.
How you can do this is as following:

    • Open Origin and let it run in the background.
    • Open task manager and look for the Origin service.
    • Right-click Origin and click go to details.
    • Here Origin will be highlighted and right-click again.
    • Select the set Affinity option.
    • Here uncheck one of the cores, preferable the last core in the list.

Do not uncheck Core 0 as this can make Apex Legends unstable in some cases.
If you tried changing the Affinity of Apex Legends, you will get the error message Access Denied.
You can only change the affinity of Origin or you will have to go into Regedit (not recommended)
