@RevenanT-G7 That's almost the same setup as me. The headset I'll be getting is something similar to the Recon 70. Though I don't know the difference between the 50 and 70.

As for controllers I'm somewhat a purist on those. I feel that's all you should need to play and leave it up to ones skill to do the rest. It's fine if people want to use paddles or what ever besides cheating macros or scripts of course. But I respect someone more for not using them.

@ColdHours Elite controller Xbox with 2 back paddles. One is for running as pressing on the thumbstick hurts my thumb and one is for crouching, altho I hardly ever use it in battle.

I either use Turtlebeach Elite Pro 2 White (Xbox Edition) or I use the amp from that setup and use my Bose Sport in-ears. This is when my ears hurt usually from the TB cups. In other games the Bose also give better audio soundscape but in Apex the sound is so... sub par that these earphones actually let you hear stuff the wrong way.

You can still talk even when not wearing ‘official’ headsets. In Playstation’s case it’s even easier as it connects to their controller and if your headset/earphones/headphones has a mic it’ll count. For xbox that’s not always the case.

Besides that, if you plug a lousy audio equipment into the controller, you get that constant feedback loop, static-y noise, garbled chat or the far-away chat noise.

Boy isn't that the truth. The audio is horrible this season. People talking turns out fragmented and enemy footsteps are non existent. Also the direction of where the sound is coming from doesn't match up.

Funny little thing about my controller set-up. I have my triggers and bumpers reversed. I aim and shoot with my bumpers. And use my tactical and ping with my triggers. xD

@ColdHours Ohhh I’m not talking about inconsistencies. I’ve used the amp + earphone setup in multiple games since I bought the headset. Despite popular belief from gamers, gaming headsets are mostly low-mid grade audio equipment if you compare them to even same price actual ear/headphones. The thing about headsets is they’re configured for gaming. That’s why games sound so good and why they usually come with a mic.

If you however plug in an audio peripheral into your controller you’d think that audio peripheral sucks, because it’s inserted into a controller with a very low grade soundcard so everything sounds (at least to me...) awful.

Buy an amp (compatible with consoles), stick it in either usb or spdif input, plug your audio equip in and it’s a world of difference. Even if you use a headset. But you’ll see, ear/headphones still sound better... only different... much less richer in sound (unless you have some very good ear/headphones), but much clearer and bigger soundstage.

Coming to my point. The audio in Apex, is just awful for these peripherals in my case. Even at S1 when I tried it I was like ‘where is this sound coming from...’ when someone was like 10m to my right it sounded as tho they were like 30m or something. Other than that, sounds were the same. If I compare that to other games I’ve played, sound was much clearer, more pronounced and you could hear good detail. I even tried my Shure S535 and sound almost didn’t change... if anyone here is an audiophile, you know how big the difference the bose sport should be to the shure se535.

So yea... I kept hoping for a better audio profile or at least tune-up... but not anymore XD.

HOW DO YOU USE YOUR CONTROLLER THAT WAY COLD XD. That sounds weird to me.
  • @Koochi-Q Haha It works for me. The X-box controller just seems too big for my hands when I hold it. So the way that I hold it the primary buttons for aiming and shooting just lines up with my fingers better.

That's the only thing I miss about the PS controller. It seemed to fit way better in my hands. I wish they made a converter for the PS controller to work on X-box. I would so do that instead.

@ColdHours You can buy chromus max... I have one for my ps... cause the playstation controller feels like I’m trying intentionally to get carpel tunnel.

With chromus max you can ‘mimic’ every peripheral for every device. PS4 controller for Xbox One, Xbox One for PS4, Xbox 360 for Xbox One, Playstation controller for pc... you name it, it can be done. Look into it.

That being said... you’re either the first or second I’ve seen make that claim. Everyone I know hates using ps controllers... xD.
