Re: Lag and freezing issues in apex on ps4

@YooHooc10222 I'd say your wireless connection might be the big issue here. The ping and packet loss can be fine, but wireless can cause many spikes, especially when there's a lot of traffic involved. The game needs a stable, large bandwidth, because there's a lot of data sent by the server on each update. If that data is not received in time, your PS4 won't be able to process frames in time and that's why you get freezes.

Also, ping you see when launching the game is always more stable, because there's little traffic when you're in the lobby.

I'd try a temporary wired connection to see if things go different. Also, lower all the video / audio settings to minimum to minimize performance issues.

  • @DoYaSeeMe You are right , wireless can be a problem some times and maybe someone is downloading or watching movies so that sure can cause lag but I don't think it will cause the game to freeze .
Also you don't have control of audio and video on playstation☹️
But yeah , @YooHooc10222 you could try it wired for some time and see if you get any improvement
  • @maximas1986 I tried rebuilding the database and uninstalled/reinstalled and it's still trash, so I'll probably have to find some way to change my connection situation

@YooHooc10222 it's not only the connection type , you have to check if someone else is using the internet while you are online .
if a single user is downloading something even if you have good internet speed then it will effect your online gaming
  • @maximas1986 Well yeah, that is of course going to cause the internet to drag, but this happens usually when there is nobody else on. I forgot to mention, but the rest of my online games seem to be fine. It has just been Apex that has been doing this.

@YooHooc10222 what's the ping you are getting and what type of freeze,
is it lag or game freeze?
honestly, I've never seen this issue before in Apex unless am playing with very high ping.
I advise that you do a wired connection test after you make sure no one else at home is using the internet, from my observation Apex is very sensitive about internet connection quality.
i can play any other online game with 140+ Ms ping with no issues , but for apex anything above 60 Ms will cause all kind of issues
  • @maximas1986 Usually, the ping is very good around right at 60, sometimes above, but for the most part has ran good regardless. It has only recently been doing this sort of lag/rubber banding.
  • @GH0STEDbyME Hello, and it's still the same mostly. I haven't been able to get a wired connection because the location of the router.

@YooHooc10222 Gutted to hear that for you. I know how frustrating laggy games and rubber banding can be. Are you far from the router or is it just awkward to get to?

the problem is he said it's only Apex having this lag, I know that Apex is more sensitive for connection quality but there must be something else.
I don't think it's the game otherwise there will be a lot of others complaining
there are a couple of possibilities for this issue
    1. the router itself has a problem ( usually old routers start to lose signal )
2.someone at his house sharing his internet connection for watching movies or downloading or online gaming which can cause such issues.
you need to do a speed test ( use speedtest.net).
then monitor for wifi signal drop, use your mobile and watch the wifi signal bars.
    try another router if possible.
there is one thing you could try but it's a little awkward you have 4G connection on your mobile, use it as a hotspot and connect your PS to the mobile internet service and try it, don't worry it will not consume a huge amount of data, you need to troubleshoot this issue

@YooHooc10222 don't give up, just try to fix this issue step by step.
and try the mobile hot spot, it will help you with the trouble shooting

@maximas1986 I noticed. Just wanted to chase it up to see how he was getting on with the problem as I noticed nothing else had been said/ updates been posted.

@YooHooc10222 Sorry to hear that the router placement is in a tricky position. You're not going to want to go wired if it's too far anyway. If @maximas1986 troubleshooting idea doesn't work then maybe it's just a signal strength issue? You might have to buy one of those plug in signal boosters (apologies I can't remember the actual name off of the top of my head).
