^I see why people switch to Fortnite. Honestly, it's a pretty good game, if more cartoony. But play is superior in many ways.
It's not cheating, it's that Apex is stupidly scored and not balanced. And I don't just mean character balance, I mean in the end game, Im pumping point blank purple barrel EVA shots into another character, and they're unloading an R-99 on me, and it's a stupid DPS race that is the dullest experience ever. I got dropped 1v1, but I didn't even hear his shield crack after not missing any of my own shots (Let's face it, getting a full spread with EVA at point blank range does not take skill so this is hardly a brag). Probably because he had, you know, the perfect loadout, or maybe a red shield versus my gold shield. It really doesn't matter, it was top level boring with guns that do near zero damage because of all the crying people do that weapons do TOO MUCH, it was the gun's fault I died! Etc. etc.
One day, there will be a game when you get shot, you get killed. Or maybe in 2 shots, just because of entertainment. Until then, people can feel good about slappy fights.
Anyway, I've had less fun winning games I have in Apex then losing a lot of other games. It's a sign, I think, as much as I've liked this game in the past, I'm going to tap platinum, get my battle pass done so I don't have to pay for another season if I come back, and move on.
It's not like this game isn't popular, but what's popular isn't necessarily good. It's what people want to play. And the modern game is mostly geared for people with thin skins, I guess? I mean, maybe I have a thin skin? But I doubt it after putting up with 6 seasons of this. I'm pretty clear that whatever changes come, they won't matter.
