Re: Tap strafing is still a thing?

@rogo2020 why not? people who can tap strafe/wall jump mid-fight are those who play a lot to even think doing those while on half-health, in other words, it's a reward for their hard work lol

I don't see the point why people cry about a mechanic that is not broken, it's not a bug, it's not cheating, it's not like it's easy to do as well.

@bosourd I've seen mnk players say it is pretty easy to do. It's knowing when to best use it that seperates the better players.

Bind to scroll wheel. Turn mouse. Not easy to do? OK.

    It's not an intended mechanic

  • @hayhor tapstrafing is easy to do in a controlled environment, but in a fight or game situation its quite hard to use (esp to get a positive effect, moslty it has no effect or negative effect for you), anyone not super pro at this will say the same. Anyhow with decent aim they go down just as fast as the rest 😉

Edit: I see pretty much close to everyone in my lobbies using it but I dont see it as a huge problem, its just one more thing to deal with when aiming in higher ranking lobbies. Most people wont be buggered by it anyhow. However the best movement tech is proper strafing, a proper executed strafe is what makes me loose most shots by far, not tap strafing or other exotic movement techs...

@Zkepz Being able to hit a pad moving one direction and flip to the exact opposite direction is ridiculous no matter how anyone spins it.
  • That you can do on console too if I'm not mistaken I can do it without using my mousewheel just timing things correctly, it's easy as pie. I'm talking about the proper tapstrafes people can do everywhere..

It might be ridiculous but it's what's pulling me to the game. Slide jump is just as ridiculous too when compared to RL. If I wanted realism idd play a different game like ghost recon with all features switched on

  • @Zkepz No, you can't. Controller movement doesn't work the same way as KBM -pushing the left stick is not the same as pressing W. One can get a much smaller turn by using a pretty finicky technique called a "flick strafe," and that's the closest c̶o̶n̶t̶r̶o̶l̶l̶e̶r̶ console can come. (tap strafe is possible on PC with controller via steam).

  • As a controller player I don’t see any problems dealing with people who can tap strafe. While they can be useful in some situations, it doesn’t guarantee that you’re winning every fight. Saw a lot of movement focused content creators on Youtube who can do all these crazy things yet can’t hit a single shot. You don’t need it to win games. You don’t see crazy movement techniques done by championship teams in the ALGS. Aim is still the most important thing.

It’s okay that each platform (controller and MnK) has their advantages and disadvantages. Jitter aiming on the other hand is a whole new topic.

Exactly, I had a master trio trying to tap strafe me and I hit every god damn bullet oneclipping so practice your aim and they should not really be a problem. What people are complaining about is mostly people who can utilize all movement skills to perfection and also have stellar awareness and 3d movement awareness. These are hard to cope with, just a tip don't play where they want and they get easier, still with the time they put into gaining a favor in some areas they should have that favor if you ask me.

If I could choose idd rather have one player with controller on my team that is strong in CQC, right now we have 3 MnK and our weakness will always be a strong controller player in CQC.

  • I get that it can be unfair since controller players can't do it but I still think being a god at movement with all these movement techniques isn't enough to win you games. It's a tool but it is worthless without aim and I've seen Taxi2g rage all the time and miss his shots because of too much movement.

Hal and Shiv can better explain what I'm saying. lol.

@Cheese9Man Oh I definately agree that sometimes all the movement makes people miss. I actually think it is the reason controller players one clip mnk people more. They can't move nearly as much so hitting shots becomes more important.

Still doesn't change my opinion of the complete change of direction in air tho. How is it possible? It isn't like wall jumping where you bounce off an object. It doesn't make any sense.
