Re: APC/ambulance support legend concept
This might be some extra trivia, but for character design I’d love to see something that often isn’t featured in stories, which is the guy/girl who understands machines but not people’s feelings.
It’s a little difficult to explain, and this person is not impulsive or disorganized (unlike rampart), just too logical and analytical, and unlike other characters is only in the apex games to test her/his APC for commercial military exports outside the games.
Think of crypto, but who is only obsessed with perfecting her/his vehicle and everyone in the games exists to test the capabilities of his/her vehicle. And he/she’s there to analyse his/her vehicle’s performance to note down possible improvements for after the games.
Another character close to this concept is caustic, but if caustic were to help people and perfect his/her creation instead of thinking himself superior and trying to harm others.
Typical lines would signal stuff where she/he’s actively flexes the superiority of her/his creation (the APC) and demands enemies do their best and give their all (to test its limits).
A complete refusal to accept failure, for example, a teammate going down isn’t a loss, it’s an opportunity to test the APC’s medical capabilities.
Or an enemy team ambushing isn’t a fearful situation, it’s an enemy finally worthy of the APC’s capabilities.
Of course, when she/he start doing well, he/she only becomes more bloodthirsty, as her/his limits have not yet been achieved.
As kill leader she/he will actively comment on how the enemy should bring more/real opponents as the current ones simply couldn’t stand up to the incredible greatness of the APC.
I admit it’s a bit odd, but that’s what makes characters fun.
Now that I think about it, "Rhino" would be an excellent name for the APC. And of course, the designer, this legend, is Rhino’s number 1 fan.
I'd love to see the first trailer or teaser to this character to basically be an advertisement video selling Rhino as the ultimate “every squad needs one” product, but not actually featuring the legend itself yet. Much like the video “Star Citizen: Crusader Hercules Starlifter”: https://youtu.be/TamoB9ubodE
Or perhaps as the return of Hammond Robotics? I always loved the clean and professional look the Hammond robotics trailers had:https://youtu.be/FsHNSuKjnAU
A cool line that he/she might say when using her tactical to drop a Rhino would be "Stand by for Rhino-fall" (as a reference to titanfall, everyone loves cool references) with the same titan-deployment-ring effect on the ground where the Rhino will drop, possibly even with the same sound effect when it drops.
